Would it not work out better to hire a Van in Spain, drive it to the UK fill it up and empty it, otherwise you have to drive all the way back to the UK and the fly back to Spain, I find it very odd people dont do this unless they still live here, I know for a fact when I get out, the last thing I would want to do is drive back to this dump to drop off a van

Think most of the Brits who open bars here lack any experience the food is usually crappy slosh. I took an old Aunt to Fuengirola for lunch, thought she would like sitting looking at the boats. A Brit place looked ok. She had steak, it looked yuk! I had lasagne, it was just runny yellow stuff and the worst chips I have ever left (they were advertising home-made chips). They looked burnt but were soggy and greasy. When I passed the kitchen, saw they had 3 microwaves on the wall. The owner asked me if there was anything wrong with the chips when he cleared up, so I told him they were awful, he just shrugged.

That seems to be the answer for everything.I agree about the food, I'd be ashamed to dish up some of the meals we've been served in some bars. The Spanish tapas are good though

Always had good food in all the Spanish places we have eaten. The least enjoyable was from an English restaurant so we have only eaten in Spanish places since.

Ask yourself why are there hundreds of bars for sale in Costa del Sol , Costa Blanca , Costa Almeria every Costa . I was married in Mojacar 5 years ago . My parents live there .Have spent every holiday of last 15 years in either Costa Blanca /Almeria/Del Sol . Like many other people . I love Spain .Made up my mind enough was enough and decided to make the move and buy a bar . My wife is a Head Chef and we decided to buy a restaurant bar/cafe bar ,thought the money was in food . Thought about it for 5 years and really researched in last 6 months . Decided against . Even looked at Lanzarotte for the all year trade but no . Too much competition . Scamming .Only a couple of businesses I dealt with had books and they were v suspect . They would say alot of cash business so not accounted for . How much ? Only the vendor knows .The problem is that the trade is v seasonal , alot of the Costas are now virtual ghosttowns out of season . Why are there only a handful and I mean only a handful of similar businesses for sale in the Algarve ? Because they are doing well thats why and the opposite is true for the Costas .Even established bars are selling up .The Brits are leaving in their droves.Checkout www.torretruths.com for the situation on Costa Blanca . Not pretty .In the last few months I have heard of a Brit retiree who built a lovely big house near Vera , Costa Almeria and had all planning permits etc from townhall . The government turned around and said they didnt want a house in that particular spot and bulldozed the poor mans home infront of him . The poor chap went into a weakness and had to be hospitalised . All the expats in the area are up in arms over it .Ask your self why there are hundreds of bars for sale ! Wait for the next boom and get in early !

when Torrevieja was being built say back in 1996/1998 thats what I did quite a bit of, used to move a fair few from Essex down there, was quite good fun used to get down fast as, stop in estartit when it was good, then down to Torre, then slowy back having a couple of nights in benidorm, Its becuase of all that I had the flavour of Spain, from the very first day I woke up in Estartitt and snogged a well nice Catalunyan chica, from that day I new I belong there, shame im stuck here still

What part of the Costa del la luz do you like best?
Regards,
John.

Chiclana, Cadiz, Jerez all that area, and Also inland Sevilla, although my partner hated Sevilla, said it dirty like east london compared to Jerez. It would be my dream to live in the Cadiz province, 100%
