If you want to keep it simple, and not tie-up your laptop for TV, just buy something like an M6 ANDROID XBMC MX 2 MINI PC MEDIA STREAM TV BOX for £65 - £75. It works well in Las Encinas via WiFi link from the Priinet router so no worry about cables. FTV is the best channel for watching UK TV. There's lots more content available inc movies in HD. I watched Formula 1 in the apartment in September - not exactly razor sharp but bearable.

The device comes with an HDMI cable (for best quality picture) but if you have an old TV with no HDMI port you can connect via phono.

There is a very long thread about IPTV on here - I read it all at the time and bought a box from Droid sticks in Walthamstow.

I have recommended it to several friends all of which are very pleased with the box. I suggest you Google "Droidsticks" and have a read - it really is simple to watch TV as in BBC1 etc, TV series like "Doc Martin" or films

I have no connection with Droid Sticks - just use one of their boxes

Id be interested in your experiences once you start the streaming TV. Priinet is great for 'normal internet stuff' like email and surfing etc. But streaming TV needs both a minimum speed AND throughput ALL of the time. The instant you have a 'blip' in either you see it immediately on the TV. (Whichever source you use youtube, android box, PC, smartTV etc... the internet needs to have the capability of delivering that streaming TV signal down the wire)

So when you start watching TV you will really see if there are any problems. Bill and Freds and Dave's android box (and part of my 'wonder solution' I posted somewhere) is a great tool... Or you can download it free on your PC and have the same functionality. Its good news that it is working on prinet with Fred on Encinas... meaning that in Encinas Priinet can support streaming TV - certainly where Fred lives.

Our installation is probably one of the furthest away so we may have more problems.. as signal strength drops FAST with more distance. 19H is a similar distance and is not that fast... the last time I checked. The shop has 2 internets and the other is significantly faster than their Priinet. And with the priinet transmitter apparently at the shop - it should be the strongest + best reception there.

I had several visits and by the end of November, it had improved and I was getting a good service most of the time.... but at the bank holiday weekend , when many were in, there were problems with pixellation.

Priinet have told me that they have made another significant upgrade to the system just this week and I hope they can now deliver 100% of the time. With more on CE and then us moving out of low season, with much more demand - means that they need to have a good 'pipe' with a good speed.

They are great guys and the system when it works is the best for us personally .. so any feedback is valued...

With a good priinet, we now have far more TV than ever before - even in America (search my posts for the 'wonder solution'if you are interested, I'm no good searching the forum) Far more than we need - in fact I haven't implemented the DNS part of it as I have too much already!

I'd like to disagree slightly. Most android boxes will have a buffer and you may not notice a "blip" in the signal. If I turn my router off it takes 5 - 10 seconds for my TV to stop.

But for other streaming outside of this (where there isnt a buffer - like slingbox) you will still need a minimum level it all of the time.

I'm a fan of the android box as mentioned a few times, and the M8 quad core looks really good.... I just chose to load the same software on my PC, free, so save having to carry more boxes, as we travel a lot... and I already have the wireless long-range mouse for couch-potato control Wont work for everybody, but does for the way we use the PC.

Otherwise Id get the from say Amazon. Here is a selection

Returning to the original subject. My Priinet reception is all over the place at the moment. Just ran the testmy.net speed test and got a download of 42 kbs, my old modem from the 90's was better than that! Have run the test several times but can't get near to 1 Mb. Yesterday was poor too but improved over the afternoon. Does anyone know what is happening with this organisation?

Some friends of mine have been having problems for a few weeks now Prinet have been out to them and after they are still getting the sort of figures you are

Lost the signal completely at 4:00 yesterday afternoon. They (Priinet) contacted me this morning to say that an antenna "se fundio", which I think is melted, and they were replacing it. I now have 2.6 Mbps. Much better. I always used to say (to myself, mainly) never be an early adopter, always let other people sort the teething troubles out. Then again who listens to good advice?

Anyone else having really bad service in the last week?
I am in contact with Priinet, but paying for 10 Mbps and 7 tests this pm nothing more than 200 kbps. Now trying to watch streaming tv, not enjoying the buffering (which seems to be all I can see).

By the way I am more than happy to praise companies and services when they deserve it. Just getting frustrated with these guys. Anyone else feel the same?

Probably not relevant but Im on Iberbanda, It was off for 24 hours Mon and Tues. I also heard Movistar which is Landline has also been off on Tuesday

Uh-oh high season and therefore high demand, this was always the worry about Priinet. I had hoped that after Easters OK reception that they could handle high season in general.

Lets hope they get this sorted, they are maxed out always it seems.

I think it all relates to Telefonica there was some thing major wrong Sunday thro Tuesday. Both their Movistar network and their landlines had problems. They share the mast at the fish farm with Iberbanda who now are a wholly owned subsidiary. This might have been big enough to affect the backhaul which would in turn rub off on Prinet. We just about held on but at times it was very slow.
