Bless
Had to move the puter up to the 3rd floor yesterday. We are expecting an influx of family next week and I dont want them messing with my puter
So with all the stairs to climb I wont be on here much for the next 3 weeks, unless I want to escape from them

Wow, allready 3 pages! you guys type fast.
The panama hat that you refer to is actually not very panamanian at all. The local hats, or Sombrero Pintado (Paintad hat), look like the one you are refering to, but has colored weaved into it in circles. It is worn with the front up, displaing that the user is happy and pleased, if the user has the back part turned up, there is a problem, of some kind in his life. They cost about 40 US.
The ditch will be made wider, adding 2 more locks, work is supose to start this year.
We do have a real estate boom, with mostly gringos, and south americans buying VERY flashy condos and villas in and around Panama City. There are a few europeans, but since the travel time is long, there arent that many investing right now. We are all expeting a big influx of the baby boomers in the next 5 years or so...
Other than that, every thing is as usual, hot, wet and humid! We are now in winter time, which means it rains almost every day for 1 hour or 2. In the summer its dry, but the year round temperature is around 30 degrees celcius.
please let me know if you have more questions.
Anyone owning a bar in spain, that would like to share some of the pit falls, either by Pm on forum, or by e mail. I have thought about a bar as a business when we move.

It has been estimated that owning a bar is the quickest route to bankruptcy and failure in Spain.....
That said, if you get it right, and thats no easy feat, you can make a lot of money, but be prepared for some serious hard work.
If you are thinking of doing it then put some thought into doing something different.

I read something similar, but not only for spain. here in panama for example bars open and close monthly. Most people get amazed by the amount of cash they get, spend it on stupid things, and dont save for a rainy day, which always comes around sooner than you think.
I was thinking about doing a tropical kind of theme, specializing in drinks from central and south america, maby mix it up with some salsa/merengue tunes.

The brothers that ran it worked like slaves, the place closed at about 4-5 am, but they were very wealthy from the place and wanted for nothing, not bad when you think they both turned up without a penny and worked as waiters for the first couple of years.
They can and do succeed but only through hard work and luck.........but then thats life isn't it?
