Re: Places To Go, Things To Do
Here are a few photos taken last week of the Barrio Reina Victoria (aka Barrio Obrero) in Huelva. It sits above the park of the same name, and across the road from the shopping at El Corte Ingles and Hipercor (a good place of refuge from a day at the football.)
Apologies for poor quality/light; yet, it adds to the Hitchcockian theme.

Believe it or not - we've never been to El Corte Ingles in Huelva. Is there an 'easy way' to get there please? If the directions are easy please let us know with an approx timescale.
Sounds like you had an interesting holiday recently - and return !! Thanks for the photos here and also of cacela velha/Fabrica...
All the best

Re: Places To Go, Things To Do
Hi Jon,
Yes, it's easy to get there, but I am not the driver! I'll see if I can find a map to post online.
In the meantime, landmarks include:
- Harbour
- Market
- Museum
- up hill following sign for "Mercado San Sebastian" (Barrio Reina Victoria will appear on your right)
- full circle on roundabout to go back down hill to enter underground car park of shopping centre.
Regards,
Carol

Re: Places To Go, Things To Do
Hi, for those of you who may like to go a bit farther afield we have just had 3 great days in Madrid. Flew from Faro with Ryanair (6Euro each return, no taxes). Beautiful city, easy to cover on foot with great architecture and numerous places to eat, the best being Mercado de San Miguel (next to Plaza Mayor) which, if you like tapas, was heaven on earth. Here are a few pics including one of the biggest and best gin and tonics ever. Regards Bryony :-

Google is really clever, how on Earth will it know that there will be a grey car there when I cross the road?
Thanks again

Re: Places To Go, Things To Do
Has anyone travelled from UK to Ayamonte by trains ?

Re: Places To Go, Things To Do
You can´t quite do it all the way. The nearest train in Spain stops at Huelva. You could catch the highspeed train all the way from London to Sevilla then the slow train to Huelva. You can catch the train from Lisbon to Villa R St O and do high speed from London to Lisbon via Madrid.

Re: Places To Go, Things To Do
My son and his young lady are over at the beginning of September and were asking about what they can get up to. As you can imagine the things that entertain me and the OH and not the things that entertain a young couple so I was a bit stuck. The only thing I could think of was the Karting track.
Has any body got any other suggestions eg activities; clubs; etc??

Already mentioned in other threads is the new Baesuris - O Clube de Verão at Castro Marim, Portugal (exit Monte Gordo/Altura from mw). Google the name for Portuguese information (Facebook/YouTube/etc.) It runs (as the name suggests) from 16th July until 30th August '10. I think the hours are 22.00 - 06.00.
