What horrifies me is how big this is, the size of the web of corruption and the casual nature in how it was just nodded thru by so many.

If Murdoch gets BSB after this it will be proof positive that the whole system is corrupt and that no-one has the slightest will to clean it up.

Knowing what we know now - that would be a travesty, Surely shareholders would block any potential move at BSkyB now?

What saddens and frightens me is that things are so bad it may go thru.

As for the Met. A stinking mess of corruption that kills and assults citizens with impunity.

The Murdochs continued to pretend they knew nothing about the dodgy dealings until well after the event.
If they were so ignorant and distant as they claim from what was going on, it simply adds to the arguement that their company is far to big and needs to be broken up into properly managed and controlled smaller organisations.Shame that guy didn't quite hit the target with his custard pie or whatever it was.
Imagine the superb effect of that picture on the front page of almost every major news rag throughout the World.
I used to work for a company 1% the size, 7,000 peeps, 40 bldgs in uk, operations in every continent.
I would never expect the CEO, located in another continent, to be aware the toilets in one office haven't been cleaned.
The Drucker Pyramid Structure - conceived in the 1950's, used by all major orgs since then and even now - means a senior exec (or manager) would have no more than 7 people reporting direct to them.

The big problem is with all the levels of pyramid the filter gets thicker and thicker, nasty bits are kept back at each level of reporting to protect the one reporting.

Some say Murdoch seemed doddery - I think not, he was cautious, calm on the outside, seething on the inside at having to sit in front of these peons who knew nothing - this came through when he thumped the desk. He was told it would be an hour and turned into about 2.5 hours.

He knows he has been seen to be a fool, which he isn't, and Heads will Roll.
Over the next 12m there will be a lot of people visiting Exec Recruitment co's with a News Corp in their Cv.

Nope. Not the point here.

Firstly, he is someone who has far too much power over our political system. Evidence? I give you "It was the Sun what won it!"

He wants even more power in this field. That is wrong, even if he were a saint.

At the end of the day, there are only two things he can say.

1. I knew about it. (Gotcha)
2. I knew nothing. (Incompetent, Gotcha.)

The ignorance defence is further weakened by the fact that this is the SECOND time that this has happened, so even if the ignorance defence is used on the first event, you simply can't play the joker twice.

Finally, wasn't Rebecca B on record as mentioning that the police had been paid the last time? Murdoch and she are pretty cosy. Don't tell me that he didn't know, it's just ridiculous.

One point I heard this morning. Odd that Cameron and Co were attacking and weakening the BBC which would have helped the Murdoch family they were so keen to cosy up to.

There's another head that should roll.

I saw that the select committee headed by Vaz have already submitted their recommendations, which really aren't worth commenting on.

The irony is astounding, the two most squeaky-clean top police officers in the country have been forced to resign by Keith Vaz, the sleaziest and most corrupt MP in parliament.

Yates, especially, must be scratching his head. He specialised in tackling police corruption throughout his career, and rose right to the top because of his apparent honesty. And there he was, being grilled by Vaz, dishonest as the day is long, and even looks it.

One of the saner members of the committee, an intelligent lady, said that listening to some of the comments made her think that she had just fallen down a rabbit hole.

I thought that all the way through, and by the looks of it, so did old Rupert.

Vaz may be bent, but we have on tap a whole lot of coppers, as bent as hell, that this was known the last time this mess happened, and nothing was done about it.

I'd want heads rolling left, right and centre.

I agree with you about Vaz though.

They sorted it out the last time by bringing in Stephenson and Yates to sort it.

The rest of them? Definitely not as squeaky clean as those two.

I think they were neither squeaky clean or particularly effective at digging out their corrupt colleagues.

You'd have to ask Yates, hundreds of them, I think.
