It disgusts me, who the hell do they think they are? What do they think they are so special for? They have done nothing important! Now what time is Big Brother on?

I think Ray Davies deserves a platinum and diamond encrusted medal for bravery for having the nerve to be seen by billions with that barnet.

I thought he was almost (but not quite) as bad as Macca at the opening ceremony. Another one who should have retired gracefully whilst he could still sing.

The Who, however, were great. Roger Daltrey must have a picture of Dorian Gray in the attic, he never seems to look any older.

I didn't like the Brazilian part of the ceremony much, but at least it served to make our contributions look even better by comparison!

Whilst the scenery and settings were quite good, the music if thats what it was supposed to be was absolutely dire.

The commentator kept saying what a great showcase this is for British pop music , lord above most of it made me cringe, but at least I had the mute button on hand.

I mean apart from the fact that they couldnt shout coal down a passage, let alone sing, there was all sorts of garbage on show from wankers caught doing dirty deeds in public toilets to a scumbag guilty of making foul and abusive phone calls for all the world to hear.
That shower of sh!t could hardly make anyone feel proud to be British IMHO.

If they could go back far enough to drag the dreadful Ray Davies on stage,they could have done a bit better by wheeling out some of the great sixties stars and at least we might have heard some half decent music.
Daltry wasnt too bad I'll grant you, but apart from that, only Lennon, apparently especially resurrected from his grave for the occasion, was any good at all.

It surprises me not that most of the Royal family gave it a wide berth.

I doubt if old Phil would have been well pleased trying to tolerate that crap and I reckon old Lizzies face would have turned fresh milk sour in a matter of seconds.

The Queen never attends closing ceremonies, never has, its protocol.

I thought they DID wheel out loads of 60s stars! given that most of that generation are either dead or addled with chemical substances, they managed to find quite a few.

Well, its over. Certainly the "warm up" anyway, we have the Paralympics to look forward to and I will be taking time off work to watch that just as I have for the Olympics. I loved it, I don't think there is any doubt about that and its heartening to hear that by and large the rest of the world loved it too with the over riding feeling from the rest of the world being the amazement of how friendly, helpful and generous the British people really are but then as someone who was not only born overseas but was brought up overseas I have never doubted that generosity of spirit that the British have.



One thing I will say, I bet FIFA are absolutely kicking themselves that they were swayed by shiny gifts and gave the World Cup to Qatar! Still think Britain is unable to organise a major sporting event Blatter?

Who else would you want in charge of the Olympic legacy? Did he not do a good enough job on the Olympics? Wouldn't you want someone with a proven track record?

Firstly I am not sure what there actually is to be in charge of. The legacy will be what it will be without lots of people getting even more free lunches out of it. The country spent a lot of money. Lots of people had a great time but its over. Why spend any more?

Secondly, although the event has been deemed a success, I'm not sure what the criteria being used to make that statement are either. If its medals then fine, I agree the sport part was good. But what about the security mess up and the ticketing problems at the start? When they did get fixed it wasn't Coe that solved the problems. In fact he tried to deny there was one with the tickets.

I must own up to really really disliking Coe and he didn't help when he suggested that there wasn't a problem with all the empty seats and they could always be given to the forces and women. (especially loved the 'and women' part) Next day we see squaddies forced to sit in the seats looking bored and playing with their mobile phones.

So you are saying it was a failure? He did a bad job? Did you actually watch any of it? I only ask because even the most ardent doubters have been turned around!

Of course it must continue, thats the whole ethos of the Olympics, thats the mistake Australia made and if it has a change on Britain's malaise then I for one am happy!
