It's just that I wanted to have a good look at what's availible in quite a
large area but if they are charging for viewing's it will cost me big time

Treat the whole thing as you would in the UK. Would an estate agent in the UK charge you for a viewing? NO.
So why would they charge you there? Mainly because there are a thousand agents for every 100 houses and they know that 900 wont make a sale so they think of other ways to make some cash.
