Running the last 3 weeks on UKTV Style tv has been the programme called ' Living in the sun' follows people who are living and trying to earn a living in spain and those starting their property search.

You've got to admire the guts in moving to a new country to make a new start but what amazes me is how many of them turn up to live in spain with not much idea of what they are going to do and not a word of spanish to be heard .

They all start with the same intention , less stress , get out the rat race , more time with the family ,and end up working longer hours with only the expat community for customers for their bar / restaurant or english product shop .

The daftest was the family that thought paint balling in the 40 degree heat of the afternoon would appeal to the spanish !
The most sensible was this evening the couple already in Benelmadena who had seen their property surrounded by new developments and had tired of living in an english ghetto , ploughed everything in to a boutique hotel in Medina Sidonia , looked very smart .

The living in the sun programme is at least a year old, shortly after the first time it was shown the "Hotel" was advertised for sale here on the coast and described a needing completion, nothing is as it seems on these programmes

I know that , had the inside track on 2 place in the sun shows , one where the people shown to be looking round had already bought something else before they were filmed searching , but the agent was chuffed because all the properties shown were sold to people who had seen the programme and the 2nd where several inaccurracies were shown for entertainment value .

Have to say hadn't seen this living in the sun before , 15 episodes so far , where was it shown first then ?

Believing those shows is like believing the artists impression on a buy off plan project.

The ones currently being shown on Discovery Real Time have properties that look so cheap, until you realise they were made in 2001, so I hope no-one thinks the prices are current when the watch them.
