"campo" means "in the countryside" - not in town. not a terraced house or an apartment. A nice little single family home surrounded by greenery on all sides.

Noticing ones that don’t sell , probably something wrong, area , crime etc.
Even tho we want to keep to ourselves mostly would be nice if town was ok in whatever area we choose.
I read a comment somewhere Benaganim wasn’t nice so that put us off there a bit.

Any tips or honest thoughts ?
I suppose it always depends on price/location and country houses cost next to nothing anyway, but I would certainly not just look at the ideal property.
Every case is different and just depends what you are used to. I bought land in Spain more as an investment to be honest, but did look at all factors and location should be more important than your ideal property.

Thanks for your ideas, but the property is more important to us than the location, room outside for our lovely dogs.
Yes location is still important tho:- countryside , no immediate neighbour , could be located anywhere in Spain .

Hi debs, I'm guessing that you will be using your own transport whilst staying in Spain? You say anywhere in Spain, does a temperate climate appeal or do you prefer extremes?

Best regards

Hi jonboy
We would like the best sunshine most of the year.
Yes we will be driving our car over and possibly hiring a lorry or use a company to transport our belongings ,too soon to look into that .
Our car has a private plate I do not think we can keep that ?and also we have 90 days?( not sure off the top of my head) to get a Spanish plate , and I have read that they prefer you to have a left hand drive car ?

Kind regards
Deb

I wouldn't be focused on that and you are talking about Spain. Being further inland can also mean that the best of the sunshine just means too hot during summer and you have a hot semi-arid climate with cold winters too. You'll actually find a Mediterrenean climate pretty decent all year round to be honest and you'll be glad to have a sea breeze now and then + a garden that actually is a garden.

Thanks for that , my Aunty lived in Alcudia and Alicante for many years , we are well travelled visiting Spain and many long haul holidays and understand the need for a gentle breeze.
Kind regards

your private plate is its UK registration number. You can keep that on "retention" but you wont be able to display it on the car in spain. You can import a car at any point in life, but in order to avoid paying the "import tax" on it, the process needs to be started within 90 days so that it classes as a "personal import" and part of your "belongings".
