I put two steaks in the pan for 5 minutes = two steaks half cooked.
Take one out and put the third in for another 5 minutes = one steak fully cooked and the other two half cooked.
Take the fully cooked one out and put in the other half cooked one for the 3rd 5 minutes = three steaks fully cooked.
I saw it as cooking each side of the steak for 5 minutes which helped me get it but it isn't actually a sides issue - it works for boiling potatoes as well.

You guys have probably heard this one, and it's far easier to figure out, but here it is again:
You're driving down the road in your 2-seat sports car, when you come across 3 people by the side of the road:
You car has only one passenger seat. What do you do?
You're driving down the road in your 2-seat sports car, when you come across 3 people by the side of the road:
- An old woman seriously ill in need of immediate medical attention
- A billionaire who offers you a million to give him a ride.
- The love of your life. The one person you would do anything for.
You car has only one passenger seat. What do you do?

It just shows how different peoples brains work. I am struggling with this far more than the 'steak one'
At first I thought they were the same person and then nothing

Can you give me a clue?

so it would be tempting just to grab the money, then phone for an ambulance for the old dear and phone for a taxi for self and ladyfriend,

.......though I think you're on the right lines for the correct answer plus walk to the nearest bus stop with the young lady.
