The vaccine works in the same way as flu vaccine. It prepares the recipients immune system to recognise and kill the virus if and when the recipient is infected.

Maybe its you understanding ?

This .................

Can you still get infected, and infect others, if you get vaccinated?

Possibly. None of the vaccines tested so far have been 100 percent effective so some vaccinated people may still catch the coronavirus.

That is exactly the same as with any other vaccination. None are 100% effective.

This is flawed 2+2 does not = 5

My understanding is that the vaccine, at least the one currently used in the UK, does not prevent someone catching the virus or passing it on. It only stops the recipient becoming ill.
If this is true then those colleagues who have had the vaccination will also present a risk to their colleagues.

That's not an argument really though is it as those healthcare workers would be at risk in all situations.

Steve

They will be more at risk than necessary because of unvaccinated people getting ill and needing to be treated.

Those unvaccinated people will also be using healthcare resources - beds, ICUs etc. which could be being used for other patients.

I'm not a scientist, never claimed to be.
I don't pretend to know all the answers and I certainly don't believe all that I'm told, unlike some.
This is just one example, perhaps you'd be kind enough to explain how my understanding is flawed.

The conclusion you made is not supported by that article.

If you wear a mask and observe social distancing, you are unlikely to become infected or infect others.
If you get vaccinated, you are unlikely to become infected or infect others.
If you become infected and recover, you are unlikely to become infected again or infect others.

Just as with the flu or any other vaccine, it may not be effective for all and some may experience a reaction.

Vaccination is not a magic bullet. It will not protect everyone, but it will be effective for the majority of recipients. Much safer than doing nothing.

The most important words in your reply are in bold.
I'm still left wondering how my understanding is flawed.

Please help me with this.
Does the vaccine currently used in the UK prevent someone catching the virus?
Does it prevent someone passing on the virus?

As I've said, I'm a simple soul so a yes, or no, will do.

Basically it looks like in Spain they will record people who refuse vaccination.

It is known to lessen the effect of the disease.

Whether or not it stops or inhibits infection being passed on is not yet known as far as I am aware.

Very normal information gathering practice in order to gain data for further advertising campaigns to be more effective.

You are right Rosemary but just as the modelo 720 is just a device to protect against money laundering it is easily useable to keep tabs on what you do with your foreign assets. I have no doubt that if there are problems ahead with vaccine efficiency the government will use information they have to carry through any policy they might feel necessary to protect its citizens
