Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
if its spam to comment on the best thing that I've found in the shops since moving out here (just 6 weeks ago) then I am guilty as charged
if the spirit of a forum is to share such things then classing such things as spam shows me I chose the wrong place to contribute to / learn from  either way, I am off to enjoy the sun whilst its still a relative novelty to me :fingerscrossed: oh, I might BBQ a couple of bangers for tea later on too! :) |
Re: Living in Spain - the good things!

I happen to prefer to drink a particular type of lager too and a particular brand of tea (that is a bit rare over here too), maybe I can get a deal from a few newspapers and run a full page ad: This week JPJPJP likes ..... Anyway, after such a warm welcome, I think I will stick to watching rather than contributing to this expat forum now. It seems that unless you are one of the in crowd, your view is unwelcome. So long and thanks for all the fish:rolleyes: |

So the good things you find in Spain are all English!
The lager is Japanese (apparently Simon Cowell drinks it too - not that that should be any endorsement!). The tea though, I hold my hands up on that one, is English :o |
Re: Living in Spain - the good things!
The topic heading is about the good things about living in Spain and for me its the weather, the people, the food, the views, the sense of space and freedom!! The winters here "aint all that" and the houses dont really do winter, but apart from that I love it here!!

I was shocked at the price of it as it used to be food for the poor. |

Yes, €1,000 is a lot more than I pay in UK. Plus some of the urbanisation fees I have heard quoted are scary. Then if you live in a block of flats you have la derrama to pay. A guy I speak with is having to dig very, very deep as they have some very expensive lift repairs to cough up for. But no, no council tax!
I live in a very big house in a pretty village five minutes from Xativa. My rates and rubbish, six collections a week, are roughly 100 euros a year. Village houses have the cheapest overheads and are pleasant to live in and you have Spanish neighbours. |
