What about my other arguments? No Shops, No Restaurants?
Bit touchy aren't we today? I do not have a property to rent on Esuri. Nor do I personally know anyone who has. People do live on Esuri quite happily, its just an option. Some people think to get a house to rent for that price is quite reasonable. I don't think you could get that sort of size in Ayamonte but you may know otherwise.

My humble opinion is that € 500 is excessive for what the area of CE has to offer and what would two people anyway want with a 3 bedroom house? Barbara?

Well just to disagree because I am bored at work (and don't get abusive, I am a sensitive soul you know) but don't you think some people like to entertain visitors and would pay for lovely views and no nosy/noisy neighbours over a pokey flat with no parking in the centre of town.

You go Girl! You do need a car to get to shops etc but it is so peaceful on Esuri with just the sound of birdsong and there is no problem with parking. Think I'm right in saying pools are closed from about Nov - Easter but may be wrong.

But that´s just the centre, 4 streets of pedestrian area. Is that how you see living in Ayamonte? What area would you advise Barbara & Husband to live ?

Abusive? me ?¿

You are taking this a bit personally methinks!! I live in Ayamonte but everyone has their preferences. I wouldn't advise anyone to live in a particular area of any country. Barbara and husband need to have a look around and see for themselves what they would prefer. Whether it is a 3 bed townhouse, flat in centre or a beach apartment they need to compare what is available to the price they can afford, taking into account that there is room for negotiation.

Not sure how your reading my posts here, but you nicely refrain from an opinion.

Doesn't it really depend on what they prefer? Do they want to be walking distance from a variety of shops, bars? In that case, Esuri is definitely out. Do they want to be on the beach all year round, then maybe Canela is for them. If they like to play golf and prefer peace and quiet, maybe Esuri or Canela. Myself (although this is not relevant I may add but just for you Jur ) I prefer to be at a walking distance from amenities but not too central.

For the nicest apartments and peace and quiet I would opt for El Rincon del golf or Prado Golf on Isla Canela. For beach/close to amenities the Marina of Isla Canela (although not the greatest to go shopping for groceries). In Ayamonte the Mirador del Guadiana is absolutely stunning but I´m not sure about rentals & prices. I myself live in La Villa, Ayamonte´s oldest neighbourhood which I like a lot because I feel I live in Spain not elsewhere. Around the bullring is also very pretty, but parking/driving seems to be a bit difficult.

Sharon, What´s your opinion about the nicest areas then ?

Barbara, let us know what your wishes are!

Hi Jur,
So nice of you all to be giving me a helping hand - we haven't yet decided what we definitley want yet - hubby and I have to have serious discussions!
It's very very difficult based on internet research! That's why I'm sooo glad to be able to talk to you people!! We will of course rent when we first arrive, too scared to leap into a purchase! The thought of being only a 2 hour flight from friends in Uk is sooo appealing to us, after living in Oz for nearly 10 years! It's too expensive from here to be able to do trips back to UK. I love hearing all of the comments from everyone!! It's makes me feel less scared!! Keep the info coming
We will have approx 2,000 euros a month to live on - i have been told that we should be able to manage ok on this
Best wishes to you and thx for any comments you can make
Barbara

Being a regular visitor staying in the Parador overlooking this development which is built into the hillside, I would be very surprised if a lot of these properties do not suffer from damp problems in the future.

Yes, damp is a bit of a problem with the river, the ocean and the marshlands here. Constant ventilation is essential.

I was referring more to the earth bankings on the back walls of the buildings
