Leaving Spain. Why!

Really? What is it you are looking for?
My cousin recently passed his HGV and got 3 interviews in 2 weeks for work, all permanent full time too. One was from the agencies.
400 apps and one interview isn't good. Must be just the line of work you are in rather than this be a problem with all jobs.
Maybe a change of career?

Maybe at 52 a change of career is the way to go.

No 'we' is actually just you!!!

It was a serious question.
Some people going back to the uk could be put off thinking that they may have to put in 400 aps for 1 interview. That's all im saying.
Im just saying that going by feedback you would normally get a hell of a lot more than that.
This is why I asked what he did.

He did it with tyne and wear training. it's £125 a day but it usually takes no more than 5 days.
The av cost is around £1100 but that includes medicals, theory and test plus exam.

I think the number of interviews is primarily an age thing. I won't tell you the number of applications I made (and I have two good degrees and a very impressive CV). But I would love it to have been only 400.
I am 57 and the private sector wont take me on because of my age (which I understand), and the public sector - well I have lost count of the number of times it has been suggested that I need to join the Labour Party.
(This latter certainly explains why we are in the mess we are in.)
So I do some part time self employed stuff and retrained as a language teacher. which pays the bills.
So there is work there, so long as you are creative in your search.
But I am not sure any of it willbe there next year, as the collapse in the pound and interest rates destroys FDI.

I do now believe there is work, it's just a case of finding it.
We have friends that are over in Benidorm at the moment and one of the women is a purchasing manager for a big electronics purchasing/selling company, she is based in Lancashire and they are currently recruiting. She said they are interviewing all the time and in so many words told me "you want to see the state of some of the people that turn up for interviews"
The basic is 16k and some of the sellers walk out with 2k a week(more experienced ones). Basically they buy things like the Playstation3,GPS,and elctronics in general and sell them to the likes of Currys,Dixons and a lot of small independant stores.
We are even thinking about moving down to Blackburn if we go back as she said we would have a good chance of getting something.
I think options are there, it's just a case of looking and asking people you know that could perhaps pull a few strings. This is what me and the missus are trying to do if we can by getting our heads together.
As someone mentioned. It depends how hard you want to work and find work.
I guess that this stands if you live in Spain but I think if you want to move up the ladder then it's going to be a lot tougher on the Med.

In England? Yes I very much agree nowadays.
We went back the other week and all the major supermarkets are having price wars on and in particular the stores own brands are really cheap, plus to buy clothes is a lot cheaper back in the uk(with the exception of ladies leather boots and bags)

Sorry - nor England as a whole but North West and North East are definitely cheaper than the South (as I found when I moved down from Shropshire a few years ago). But far fewer private sector jobs - some parts of Northwest and North East over 50 percent (in some cases 70) of local GDP is public sector spend. So either there will be fierce competition for a real job or more likely ambition will make you stand out from the crowd. good luck!

), so maybe not as in the article it seems to suggest older pensioners.
