He had to give up due to his health.
I can't draw my Local Authority Pension until 2014, but I get my State Pension in 2010.

My husband's Pension is £7.5k a year, he didn't enter teaching till he was in his 30s. He had just over 20 years in. Then he lost a quarter of it for taking it five years early.
He had to give up due to his health.

I don't know if this will effect your hubby.

I hope not too!
However he has only been receiving his Pension since 2004 (and the first estimate they gave us they had not included his twelve years' service at his last school!
), so maybe not as in the article it seems to suggest older pensioners.

Only 250 applications ! !
Well, my 30 years experience and 400 apps this YEAR got me one i/v.
They loved me, they even gave me directions as to how I could take a short cut from my house to the office, but the job went to someone with more (?) experience...............in using excel ! ! !.
Note to self, always ask if there is an internal applicant before wasting time and money attending an interview for a job that's already been filled.

I'm going to put the same post on six threads (that's how many are currently discussing various sides of the same subject) & see if anyone else agrees with me that one all encompassing thread along the lines of
Is everyone having trouble finding a job, why are you staying in Spain, going back to the UK, coming to Spain, changing your mind, and is there a place or business that's the best option for Brits over here? is what's needed? ...with a nod to Peter Kay, of course
There are loads of people with loads of interesting comments about all aspects of this mega-subject, but to keep tabs you have to have the flitting nature of a damsel fly & there's no one obvious 'core' thread.

But with a core thread the minor points go unread or are not made.
Do we really want to copy big business and centralise? Will we then suffer a thread crunch?

Is that pension figure based on the before or after all the stoppages please as a £20k pension works out at about £16k in your hand?

.and I may???? not be up to date with current procedures
I later discovered that the job went to an internal promotion.
Makes you sick.

Oh don't you just hate that!!!, I applied for a job at the local council for the position of Help desk manager, no interview, so I phoned to ask why, according to them I did not have the right experience, I pointed out that I had originally set up the help desk for Argos, and could do the job blindfold, both hands tied behind my back and standing on leg whilst balancing a cup of coffee on my (now) bald head,(ok I may not have said exactly those words but you get my drift) they said that was to long ago

You fool ........ helping people nowadays is completely different to when you did it .... now you have to employ every ounce of your experience to get rid of the person who wants help before they annoy you too much

I didn't mean actual personal stuff I meant what I wrote, is the basis of living comfortably based on the figure stated Before or After stoppages.
If it's before, I could cope

correct. They need abusive manic depressive people to man the phones, so that when someone calls to say they can't boot up, the support desk can all have a laugh and spend 30 min keeping you on hold, and then say, swict off and try again, replacing the handset before the caller has a chance to tell them he did that 8 time before calling

Really? What is it you are looking for?
My cousin recently passed his HGV and got 3 interviews in 2 weeks for work, all permanent full time too. One was from the agencies.
400 apps and one interview isn't good. Must be just the line of work you are in rather than this be a problem with all jobs.
Maybe a change of career?

Can't see a problem
