As someone who has some understanding of split families but none of your plight, I'd make the observation that anyone with a brain knows circumstances vary. However a child seeing a separated parent on a weekly or more frequent basis has a greater attachment with that parent than one who is reluctant to turn up anything more than rarely, or possibly not at all. Clearly we know nothing of your precise situation so even if entitled, couldn't judge. All we can do is go on information posted. And a child however keen on a move, however excited, might just begin to wish they'd retained a closer contact with the 'other' parent. Of course there may be a very good reason for the child NOT to wand to keep in touch....... that's the problem with online discussions like this Still wish you (and youngster) the best.

You will have comments when you post a thread like this one. I don't know BOTH sides of the story but its perhaps not as cut and dry as attending School events.

Good luck, but unless you have money, contracted job and speak the language your better off in the UK.

Parent and grand parent, both children graduates, working, and I retired aged 56 to enjoy life.

I hope you do have money, job etc or you'll be back in the benefit line quickly and do think of the potential emotion harm you can give your child. You really need to talk to a professional and not just retired smug gits like me

As for advice? Stay in the UK and encourage the relationship with the father.
At the risk of being branded judgemental, I too agree with this. It's not like the father never sees his daughter. How would the OP feel if it was the other way round?

But the discussion is not about this and I know nothing about the legalities, so will bow out gracefully.

This will be my last post on what was my thread .. Again asking for good advice !! Your all entitled to your opinion but if your opinion was not positive and nothing to do with my original question, then why post??? You clearly don't agree and that's fine I'm sure there may be things in your lives I would or wouldn't agree with at the end at the day I am a good mother doing my best for my daughter!!! So judge all you want I know I'm doing what's best for her and I will not be put off or feel bad for anything I may do!!!

Several of us have said outright we can't know your situation any better than we can anyone else's on the forum; we can however post observations, and several - myself included - have attempted to be constructive. Expecting only positive opinions is a little naive, and as a parent you will well know it's not always wise to listen only to 'friendly' opinions. It's a rare parent not wanting to do the best for their child, I'm sure you're no different. Making observations doesn't equate to judging. Sorry you've taken exception, I still hope things get sorted for you in the best interests of all your family.

Hi Catjo, did it work out for you, or has it resolved with your ex and he is now a bigger part of her life?
