well this has prompted me to post about recent insurance related events, not with Intersure but a similar co, & I reckon with any insurance co tbh.

2 neighbouring properties, 2 similar issues - water leak on main feed pipe between road & house.

property 1 - not noticed till bill for water of >500e received. Water loss not covered but repair was. All done smoothly, to lay 50m pipe & new fixings on road & villa was 1600e, of which ins paid 900e, owner paid 700e.

property 2 - leak caught in early days so small loss. Got a plumber direct to lay 50m pipe & new fittings at each end, plus a stop tap outside house so it can be easily isolated in future. Cost 290e all in (well, add a coffee & pastry).

50m 10 bar pipe is 80e at the merchants if you just walk in, 50e if they know you!! fittings are 2x10e, stop tap 10e tops, so 100e materials plus it took plumber 2 hours to fix, so he got 200e in case 2.

Ins co in case 1 even increased premiums for prop 1!

Make your own mind up...

This year they have changed the terms for the winter period that relates to burst pipes. Apparently if I do not maintain a temp of 55 degrees when I am not there I am not covered.
Hardly likely to suffer frost damage in Oliva where the house is.
You wont remember the cold last year then ...... when my swimming pool froze!

Is that because you are up in the hills? I didn't think it got that cold in the centre of town.
Better turn off the water when I am over in a couple of weeks just in case.

Dunno, its always a little warmer down in the town for sure but I heard a lot of complaints of it being really cold from a lot of areas last year

I know that we're inland from Oliva but we registered -10 in the garden last year!
