You turn the Firewall off not Norton, just while it downloads.
After the successful download, did you get the Expat shield icon on your desktop and the little red shield icon in the taskbar?

perhaps if I do it again sometime it may work,

over the past 40 years playing with and on computers and electronics I came to understand early on that although they are identical the electronics in each operates differently, just like women.

suggest you only download expat shield from their own official website not one of the many 'agents'. once downloaded correctly expat shield will plant a little red shield icon on that thingy bar at the bottom of the screen. If you then click on it you can turn expat on or off. It then assigns an ISP number showing you are in the uk not spain. Great stuff and it works well when using BBC iplayer.

But oddly enough not with catch up TV, not sure why.

I downloaded "add block" to stop all the adds, it's much better now, was awful before

You won't get catch up TV, because they have detected what you're doing and don't like it!

Where abouts do I find what the iplayer says?

Chiclana is near to Cadiz in Spain on the Costa del Luz. A very beautiful part of Spain with miles of white sandy beaches. However we do suffer from a wind called the Levante which when it is at its height as it is now is horrible.
