Default hello strangers.....

hello all!
just thought i'd pop up again! i'm nosy really, just wondered how everyone is getting on, there were a few that were moving out around the same time as me and i wondered if everything turned out ok for them.
We've done ok, we're just coming up to one year here, packed alot in, i had a baby a couple of months ago after discovering i was expecting a few weeks after arriving!! And i must say my experience of Spanish hospitals is much better than the hospitals i've visited in the UK. All in all we've managed to make ends meet, although has been harder than we expected, but it was worth it (even if the weather is rubbish this week!) Plans had to be changed alot seeing as i dont work now, but then who's plans ever go exactly as they expected!
Look forward to hearing from you all

Heeeeyyyyyy Good to hear from you

Congrats on the new baby - so what if you have put on some weight, so long as you are happy

I am one who was moving over around the same time - we moved over in May last year - but we are moving back to the UK at the end of July. I have a thread on here somewhere - Preparing to go home - so you can read what happened to us when you have time. Martha has already gone back to the UK and Sarah (Sarahchirles) is in Ireland planning to move on to the UK sometime. So a few changes.

Hope the bar is doing well. Keep posting and let us know how things are with you

Hi cajam

Lovely to see you on here again.

Come on then.............we want to hear all about your baby!
Photos would be good too!

Do tell us a bit about how life is treating you.
Are you enjoying being in Spain (despite the current weather )

PS Martha was one half on MnM..........the biker chick, and one of the loveliest people ever to be on BE.
Yes, I miss her

Lovely to hear from you again. I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how things were going and whether you had the baby here or in UK and of course the inevitable was it a girl or a boy.

No doubt your plans altered as soon as you discovered the fact you were pregnant and this would have occurred no matter where you live. A new member of the family is exciting but also daunting as the little soul changes so many things.

So how about filling us in a little on the details now about your little one and what you have been up to. How you have found living in Spain to be, is it what you thought or is it totally different etc.

As for us......we are still renovating our house.......OH keeps on changing the jobs that need to be done and it has become a a much bigger project than I originally thought. Gradually or should I say very slowly learning the language. Joining in with the people in the town for festivitie and events. Enjoying living in Spain on a day to day basis and wanting to explore more than we have been doing. Managing to find more time for my crafts at the moment but I know that my OH will start hinting about me needing to be painting again very soon.

Ok, i'll answer all the questions in one hit!
Spain, hmm kinda a bit like i was expecting and alot i didnt expect, i have come to the conclusion that people can tell you all their experiences but you dont realise everything til you are actually living here a while! The spanish red tape involved in running a business is confusing to say the least I didnt feel as homesick as i expected to, pretty much straight away it felt like home here, although its difficult being away from loved ones but the internet is a great help! we've had visitors pretty much every month since we've been here so we've never really had time to miss them all, and even this year we are all booked up with friends and family at least once a month.
Baby was born beginning of dec, a girl, which i found nervewracking at times during my pregnancy as my spanish isnt as good as it should be but baby arrived safely, and we all settled back into a new routine pretty well, other than hubby having to do all the work on his own as we dont make enough to employ staff. My older daughter settled into spanish life brilliantly, and considering her age her spoken spanish is really good, if she hadnt settled in our picked up the language so well i think i would have considered returning to the UK just for her benefit. We all feel more relaxed here and less stressed.
All in all our life is definitely better here at the moment and have no plans to return to uk as yet, but you never know whats round the corner........
And funnily enough we dont do any of the things I expected us to do, such as going to the beach or being in the pool all the time, you dont realise that life will be pretty much the same where ever you are, the housework still has to be done, the dinner cooked and the kids to school, and i've been to the beach more this winter (still only a handful of times) than i did in the summer, you dont expect to get fed up with the heat and rather be indoors with the aircon on
