Hayfever - Please help
#76
Hi again,
On the subject of honey, the New Zealand Manuka honey apparently has antiseptic qualities. It costs about 2 to 3 times the price of other honeys.(Unless you live in N.Z. perhaps?)
Regards,
Carol

It is, I tried it at a food festival near me last year and have been trying to get a decent local supplier since, but it is fairly hard for smaller shops to secure a good supply.
I keep trying to get friends from NZ to send me some but bottles in the post don't send too well.

I have always found hayfever to be worse on the coast! I think it is because the coast tends to be windier which is the worst thing particularly if it is coming from inland!
I have been using Flixotide Nasal Spray and after 20 years of suffering bad hayfever in England, NZ and Europe I have finally found something that works!

I know it is sold in a major foodstore here in the UK. The manuka honey website says something about making sure it is the true product, however.

Hi Jerseygirl, that's the thing about hay fever, it can be seasonal for some people. But what if you are allergic to more than one allergen, pollen or spore? It's difficult to know, and manage, isn't it?

Skin testing can now be done to determine exactly what and how many allergens one is allergic to and I believe it is quite effective...problem is I am dermagraphic and react badly to the slightest prick. Cue...Rugbymatt.

Jerseygirl,
Yes, I've heard about the allergen tests, and think it would be beneficial for people who suffer severely. Don't know about the costs, or how readily they are available on the NHS. Could go privately.
My symptoms I would regard as mild, in comparison to others' stories. It's a nuisance, especially if I find myself unprepared. That's why I'm trying the local honey option, and if no success, then back on to the antihistamines short-term.

Good thank you. I must apologise to you Matt...I typed out a PM a couple of days ago...I've just checked and I don't know what happened to it. I'm sure you know what it was about...following a conversation with Willmore. I've not been around much this week...I came to Toronto for my daughter's graduation and am staying here for a week or two. I've been awake all night so I am now going to try to get a few hours sleep...I'll try to catch up with you later.

I'm saying nothing.
