that was an answer to a question i put on their facebook account ..

´´SES As part of SES' ongoing fleet renewal programme, we will be transferring all the UK Spot Beam transponders currently operating on ASTRA 1N across to ASTRA 2E.

This move at the 28.2/28.5ºEast orbital location will take place over several weeks beginning early February 2014.

The transfer will have no adverse implications for viewers in the UK and Ireland as the affected channels will continue to operate on the same frequencies and will be broadcast at the same, or slightly improved power levels, across the UK and Ireland.

TV viewers outside the UK and Ireland may see an impact and may not be able to receive channels from ASTRA 2E UK Spot Beam, which has a smaller footprint than ASTRA 1N. The new footprint on SES' replacement fleet has been designed to meet the requirements of UK and Irish broadcasters who target their channels for distribution in the UK and/or Ireland. UK and Irish broadcasters hold broadcasting rights only for the UK and/or Ireland but not for other countries.

a comment that should be noted by those who are selling access to the same channels and similar via distribution agreements covering other parts of the world where there is a reception overlap.....

Theft is theft, even if it is "just" Intellectual Property, bad enough just re-broadcasting it free, but taking money for it

Errr .... no, it's breach of contract for sure but the subscribers in Spain are still paying the going rate for the service in most instances ...... even SKY themselves would be mift if they lost all their european viewers tomorrow as they would lose a lot of revenue

dont you normally write ´´"Bah, humbug´´ this time of year
BTW Theft is what the government of the country you live in says it is
it is up to the authorities in those country's to do what they think is fit ,so please respect the law of the country you are in and not jump the gun without legal training to determine what is ´´theft´´

reselling BBC/ITV is not THEFT .... and to be honest unlike the rest of europa
who charge tax or fees to ALL their citizens to watch their native TV ,the UK government lose up to 100 million a year .as normal private enterprise fills the gap ..

that puts an interesting angle in the discussion - surely theft is something is decided by the owner who has the opportunity to sell it or give it away, or keep it all to themselves.
the views and the laws of the government of any country can only cover the country they govern - unless they have extradition treaties, but then any country receiving an extradition request still has the right to refuse.

but the taking of programs provided for free to certain elements of the industry for use in the UK doesn't mean it is free in other countries where they have licensed retransmission. Taking of such and making it available to others without paying for the right to do so is surely theft.

and success could give ITV as much as £100m in increased revenue at virtually no cost.

there is no such thing as a free lunch.

the ECJ pointed out that the BRITISH 1988 CDP act allows ANYONE to carry BBC1,2 ITV C4,C5 ...and this law must be repealed as it is in conflict with the

im not going to explain it all again, this was all gone thru in march when the judgement came out .... as for your article that on an entirely different point where BBC/ITV PAY TO BE ON SKY ....and in effect ALLOW PEOPLE IN SPAIN TO WATCH SATELLITE FREE ... i am and always have been in favour of a carriage fee for the british channels in europe ,but im afraid its getting more isolationist over there not less unlike the rest of europa

Two days ago we lost half the channels (we have two sky boxes - one being used for just free to air channels and the other with a subscription). For the past two days despite changing the lnb and moving the dish sideways upwards and any other way you can think of we have done it. We have put new connectors on the lnb and at both boxes. We have a cheap satellite finder which has served us well when the dish was moved with strong wind it always helped us to find the correct satellite signal. The channels missing are the same on both boxes - bbc 1 London, BBC 2, channel 4 and channel 5 and many others. But we can receive ITV, BBC1 South, HD channels. Where we are BBC 1 London was always the stronger channel and if there were going to be any fluctuations in quality we would lose BBC South first. When you look at the signal test setting it is blank with no satellite locked on but it show 0002 which i was told was the astra satellite. We have got a 1.8m dish and even when it rains really hard we do not lose the picture.

One thing that does confuse me is why, despite receiving some channels, why is the sky box still showing 'no signal' and 'no quality' and it has not locked when I am in fact receiving some channels. Any help, ideas would be gratefully received.

Does anyone have any idea of what we can try next?
