Gibraltar should absolutely hold out for a better deal from a PP (Vox) government which includes rainbows and unicorns. I'm sure Abascal himself will roll the red carpet down the airport runway.

From the previous link,
Spain has never given up hope of retrieving Gibraltar and says that the Gibraltarian people should not have a say!
That's democracy Spanish style.

I have been in Gibraltar since 1976.
the first eight years with the frontier closed were the best,
I personaly expect it to be closed again.
If so the only thing I will miss is the ability to drive non stop through Spain in order to holiday in Portugal

There is an enormous irony about Spain posturing about Gibraltar which was legitimately part of the U.K. since 1713 and it’s enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla

Perejil, not much bigger than a football pitch.
Gomera
Alhucemas
Chafarinas
to name a few.

Wait till you hear about this country with no less than 14 overseas territories and a bunch of islands right next to France.

1713 Gibraltar was ceded to Britain. This treaty stated “the town, castle and fortifications were to be held and enjoyed for ever without any exception or impediment whatsoever.†This treaty was renewed again in 1763 by the Treaty of Paris, and in 1783 by the Treaty of Versailles.

Spain won’t gain anything by closing the borders. The Spanish people will be the biggest losers.

Masochism is obviously much more preferable to an agreement where Spain explicitly recognises Gibraltar.
