Presumably as a response to a first step on Gib's part to removing the barriers towards its admittance to the Schengen Zone.

Good news indeed, for Gibraltar. Well done them for recognising where their interests lie.

There are many definitions of TAX HAVENS

However https://www.investopedia.com/article...tax-havens.asp lists the top 10 in Europe

Those marked in bold red are Schengen members 70%

Table of Contents
This is only the top 10 not all of Europe or Schengen

Gibraltar is noably absent from this list

Did you know that Spain functions as a tax haven for certain people who come from abroad?

It's probably included with England.

Is it like non-dom tax status then?

A tax haven is a jurisdiction with very low "effective" rates of taxation for foreign investors

Thank you DLC for the confirmation that Spain is a Tax Haven

The Financial Times is reporting that the UK and Spain are at loggerheads over who should check passports of people arriving at the Gibraltar Airport

Passport rift between UK and Spain leaves Gibraltar in limbo

The article is behind a paywall, but is readable on my Android phone

Goibraltar Airport is a MOD / RAF Base

Pedant mode = ON.
Airport is a Joint civil military base. ATC services are provided by the UK civil ANSP.
Pedant mode = OFF.

It was a question. I wanted to know how Spain is a tax haven. Not a very good one if it doesn't make your top 10 list and the questions here on Spanish tax are anything to go by.

A country that allows persons domiciled in a different country the ability to open accounts that allow those persons to avoid taxes in the country they are domiciles of is a tax haven.
Spain does this, therefore a tax haven.

Spain does AEOI as does the UK, Gibraltar, and many other countries. If you open a non-resident account it will be reported to your country of residency. I see little possibilities for it to be a tax haven. Could you be more specific?
