It always used to be free, but they have now started charging for all paperwork.
The residencia is now €8. 60cents, but I am sure this varies in different police stations..
Thanks mod.

This will be a problem for me as I don't have a bank a/c in Spain yet. Can't I pay it directly to them?

Do you mean that I apply for the residencia & I automatically get the NIE? Is there another form for the residencia as I can't find one in the "free beer". Don't I need to fill in the NIE form too?

So it is the police station that I go for the residencia/NIE?
Please can anyone post the street name in Alicante City for the police station.

Fred James, thanks for that site but it's all in Spanish & I can't understand.

You don`t need a bank account, you just take the completed form into the nearest bank and give them the cash, they will stamp the form and give it back to you.

There is a form, but I can`t find an up to date one anywhere, the latest ones I have seen are different.

Maybe the best thing to do would be go to the police station and ask them what forms and photocopies that you will need for the Residencia and NIE application.
Get everything you need then return with it all.

If anyone has info about how to get the NIE & residencia, please post as I got only 1 free day to spend in Alicante City & I got to fly back to Uk the next day.

I want to fill in all the required forms here & won't have the time to fill them in Spain.

Thanks.

The form is very similar to the NIE form. Does this mean that I fill in only this form & not the NIE form?

Do you know if this form can be filled out in Black Ink or has it got to be typed out?

To be on the safe side fill them both in.

A photo of you grandmother might be useful

You only ever find out what they require when you are standing in front of them - whatever the law actually says!

You're right there!
Take numerous copies of Padron, Passport, and everything else you can think of as well as a good book

He was told by the medical center to go to the police station and get a residencia and bring it back, as if it was a five minute job.
When he went there he was told he needed to make an appointment to get it, ermmm one month wait.
I don`t know if he should of got them or if they had pity on him as he told them the HC said it would only take a little while to get.
He got the forms to fill in, but was told only to pay it the day before his appointment.
