As the children were playing it would appear that the schools were also closed for the day.

sounds a bit like a Spanish holy day, an excuse for a day off.

however, although the local Ford garage (the one that does everything and anything metal) has all its doors shut tight but - sounds of metal bending going on behind those closed doors.

this morning at 0730 we have the sounds of the Thursday market setting up shop

No schools, no buses and a few places closed but in general business as usual. I had an appointment at the notarios in another town and the shops were all open. Collected my friend from her job at the hospital and she said that the strike had made no difference there either.

In a restaurant last night I met a man who had been traveling around Morocco.
Yesterday he caught the ferry from Tangiers to Tarifa in order to get to Gib for a London flight today.

Cost him a taxi fare to get to Gib, no other transport.

Would anyone expect life in the pueblos to be any different:confused: Most are family businesses. Same as in any country these strikes are dominated by public sector workers and anarchist types. Seen the flying pickets try to use their strong arm tactics on the coast and in Málaga but as soon as they move on they re-open.

There was no evidence of any strike around here yesterday. Maybe I missed something, but the town centre was open for business and bustling.

Most of the shops & bars in our small village were closed yesterday - but our Spanish lesson organised by the Ayuntamiento went ahead when we didn't expect it!
