Re: Gandia
I am looking at going to Salou myself (for the New Year that is), also on my own, for a bit of golf and peace. Don't know the place at all, but maybe nice to discover.

Re: Gandia
I have a friend who has two apartments in Salou, so if you are looking for one I can put you in touch.

Hope you find something that suits. If you do and you're walking the beach and come across two fat old men paddling, that's us. Wave and say "hello".

Re: Gandia
I did a search in google.es for "Gandia Marina pisos de vacaciones" and there were quite a few hits for apartments to let. But not sure if they're available "out of season".

Thanks Mitzyboy, but I am looking at a hotel deal with golf included. I did find one, now just need the courage to book it ! Not simple, organising a trip on your own !

Re: Gandia
Now that sounds good. I have done a quick google but cannot find any information on these, I will keep trying though and if anyone has any further details I would be grateful. I have e-mailed and telephoned a few places and they are either fully booked or closed.

I hope you find somewhere to your liking, Rosemary. I've been on holiday alone several times and really enjoyed it, you can please yourself what you do and when you do it. Sometimes it can feel a bit awkward eating in a restaurant by yourself, but I always take a book with me to pass the time whilst waiting for my food to arrive and I've always been treated politely and kindly by waiters.

Re: Gandia
In the 4 months since Graham died I have made a point of going out for a meal every week because that is what Graham would have wanted me to do. Have never ever been on holiday on my own but I have to do it sometime and the invitations have started coming for the Christmas period so in a way I am running away from peoples kindnesses as opposed to having a holiday. I know what you mean about pleasing yourself etc but when it is inflicted on you permanently it is not good and not welcome at all. My family wanted me to go to the UK but I cannot face the travelling and Gandia is fairly close so if I want to I can bolt home again.
