funny pronunciation

I was looking around 'Italy' & there was a bit of discussion about really poor teaching of English by Italian teachers & some of the weird pronunciations they come up with

I'm sure we give the Spanish folks a laugh with some of our appalling pronunciation when we first start learning, but it got me thinking about the odd way they often mis-pronounce English - and how some of it seems to be standard!

one that gives me a giggle - & I admit is beginning to grate - is the ad on tele for the Phone House - to me it sounds like P-hone House

biskwits is a common one:lol:

as is aypul for apple:eek:

one thing I do get irritated about is the way the Spanish news insists upon changing names - for example Queen Elizabeth becomes Reina Isabel:frown:

why!!!????

we don't call Juan Carlos "John Charles', do we?

Wikki for whisky makes me smile, but I suspect that's Andaluz rather than Castillano; our Spanish teacher occasionally (and I mean occasionally) bungs in a random English word, or refers to something English because our course is loosely cultural... she once mentioned a great author called (approximately) sackypair.... took some working out she was referring to The Bard:D but with my memory I'd have to keep an ear peeled, I've forgotten most of the hysterical ones:o

As one from fairly far north in Britiain, it amuses me when the pronunciation is so properly BBC that it jars.

Watching wimbledon coverage, for example, the commentator will talk about the All England Tennis Clab

Ha ha - good to know it's not just the Italians messing up.

They also do the name swap ... Regina Elisabetta, Principe Carlo etc.
Tom Crueeeez always bugs me - as do biskwits, frueeet, feebray (fibre) and gog-lay (google).
