I moved around a bit and never regretted coming over, and the place grew on me. The visits back to England became less and less frequent and most of my visitors from the UK now come to see me here.

And after all those years, I’m almost legal now, and even had some more legal papers stamped on this very day by an extremely cheerful Spanish official – he was impressed with the large bundle I had put in front of him.

I’m not going to but it did cross my mind that I could now apply for Spanish nationality, I’ve been in the country for long enough.

I consider it too dangerous, perhaps the national service bit is retrospective and I could find myself fighting in Afghanistan.
Do they have armoured zimma frames ?

Well, gotta agree with that. The weather is all that I dreamed of (well apart from the fantasy of it only raining in the wee small hours when I'm fast asleep) being warm for most of the year with a good % of sunshine. Sadly it's not as cheap as it was, but the people still are as friendly. Strangers smile and say hello, which is more than most of my close neighbours used to back in the UK.

When I've been here long enough, if still feel as I do now, then I'll apply for a spanish passport. Why not? I have no desire to go back, not even in a box, and home is here, where the heart is.

Not having a pop, just trying to point you in the right direction of where to post your threads that do not even mention Spain.
Not having a pop, pull the other one.

Up to now you haven't had anything positive to contribute to it yet you're spending plenty of time here criticising.

Perhaps I did make a mistake in my title but others seem to have found their way and seem to be enjoying it I think they were wise enough to see that it does relate to Spain.

Like someone else said..."if you don't like it"

Isn't it great to find so many happy people so close to such a festive time of the year? Who says the British have lost their identity eh?

I wonder how Britains culture comes across to foreign holiday makers now.

I think Britain has lost it's identity, after the red london bus what have we got?

Neither the thread title nor the original post has anything to do with Spain therefore I do not understand why the OP has posted it here and is so rude to some of the contributors.

I did explain I had made a mistake and was unable to change it pages back. what more do you want?

Funny how so many like yourself, after reading that, still don't understand and keep harping on about it?

Sorry if you think I'm being rude, it's like talking to brick walls.

That's my last take on it.

Well, the rain is watering all my plants as I post, I am on the outside of half a bottle of nice red wine, and in the kitchen there is a bowl of icecream topped with sliced banana and some home made loganberry jam.

I shall go and watch something trivial on the tV with my dessert, in front of the stove, and all in all I'd have to say that I am truly happy.

Who needs identity when you have ice cream?

Personally I think this is one of the few threads that is actually quite informative about the spanish and the way of life, so I cant see the need to move it. As for the squabbling, well most threads here seem to degenerate to that!

Default For example...

If there is a problem with the title of the thread, then simply type in another title in the title box at the start of each "reply to thread". (see above)

P.S. (off topic) Did anyone in Spain or elsewhere see the lunar eclipse @ 45 mins ago? Now, that's one way of "seeing red"!

No! Sadly we have heavy clouds, torrential rain and thunderstorms, so no sign of anything further than about 20 metres away!!
