While we are being geriatrics, have you noticed how poor hand writing is these days?

Mine included.
The best handwriting I've seen in our family is when 9yo started at the local colegio publico and was within a short period writing beautiful joined script.

that's because they still teach handwriting here

both my girls can write beautifully -as evidenced by some of the 'libretta' work I have seen them hand in

sadly they both seem to choose not to most of the time :(

Yes, sorry failed to say that. It wasn't cos he wanted to or I taught him, it's the Spanish system. Should be adopted universally! (well those languages using the Roman/Latin alphabet;))

I just assumed, obviously wrongly, that handwriting was still taught in Uk schools.
I am 60 and remember being taught handwriting with a pencil. We were not allowed to progress to ink until our work was neat and tidy.
A great day when I was handed a pen with a nib and my our ink pot filled up by my teacher.
I do think I broke the world record for blotting paper usage afterwards though!

:lol:I am proud to be a geriatric. I have worked long and hard to become one. It has taken me more than 70 years to reach this status; and I'm not about to just give it up because it aint fashionable.

Correct... but I prefer the other one as it puts growing up in a positive light... maybe because I have already grown up! ;)

Like... "A barco nuevo, capitán viejo" (For a new ship, an old Captain)
