I love the sea and boats!!
But.. I cant advise strongly enough ..do not take the Santander route!!
If you are unlucky to pick a rough crossing..and it would appear to be normal; it is Hell on Earth.
I have done the return trip and put it down to an experience never to be repeated.
At 11 o clock at night there were 7 passengers left in the bar, the rest were elsewhere being ill!
Still as my Father reminded me the other day - the cinema was akin to Space Mountain at Disney ...hold on tight!

Can't say that I agree with you, as I regularly use the ferries from either Santander / Plymouth or Bilbao / Portsmouth and never have any of those problems.
When it's rough get in the bar and stay there until it's time to go to the restaurant to eat
....when it's guaranteed to be empty when you get the very best service
I might have a bit of an advantage having lived at sea as well though
The ferry that I prefer to use though has alway's been the service from Bilbao / Portsmouth because of the layout and access, just a personal view.
