The last lot of a Place in the Sun shown in UK were filmed in 2003/2004. They too give an entirely wrong idea of prices. If only - is our cry when we watch[/quote]

And it never rains & everyones always got a glass of red wine in their hand ....... what paradise

I'm in the countryside of Alicante Province, 10 minutes from the airport and city centre. If you want to avoid 90% of the crime and scams you read about steer well clear of Expat ghettos, holiday towns or anything else that isolates you from Spanish society. And, when buying, if the estate agent speaks English it's usually a bad sign.

Carole, I like Mojaca, but it's a holiday town, full of ghettos, completely isolated from Spanish society and very badly communicated with the outside world.

Can be a bad sign but not necessarily so. You get good and bad in both. We have a friend who is an estate agent in Castalla, he's Irish and he is honest and helpful. And no we haven't bought or rented through him he is just helpful and has given us some very good advice.

How do you like Castalla? Looks a good location to me especially now the CV80 has been built but I don't know the town too well. 30 odd kilometres from the beech seems a bit far though.
