The Royal Decree 1578/2008 of the Ministry of Industry, published last September 27, makes it obligatory for Distribution Enterprises of electricity bill, as of Nov. 1, on a monthly basis. This law is applicable to domestic supplies

Two bed apartment, cooking and heating by gas, but plasma tv, pc etc on quite a while, much less than the UK bill.

Over a 12 month period ours works out to about 90 per month, we have aircon in the summer and warmair in the winter, the summer bills june , July and August are the highest, in the region of 240 for 2 months as we have the pool ticking over at least 12 hours a day and aircon. Also cook with leccy but heat hot by gas.
our landlord seemed to think we had found a way of by-passing the meter!!

We are considering changing to the dual meter but find Iberdrola very difficult to deal with.
They repeatedly charge us an excess on our bills because we use more than 500 kWh per month. One time they dramatically undercharged us and on the subsequent enormous bill, they charged a huge excess amount for over-consumption per month even though it was their mistake. We argued with them but got nowhere.
Is there a regulatory body to whom we can complain ?
They appear to be a law unto themselves.

Received the bill today, from 17 November to 17 December so it´s started already. Not gone out of the bank yet but, clearly, it will go out this week.

Which has reminded me to post a cautionary tale: about six months after buying/moving in, we received a gigantic bill (think it was water) & the only possible explanation was that being deep in campo they hadn't been reading the meter & we were copping for the bill(s) of the previous owner who during that time had emptied, repaired & refilled the pool..... we couldn't get out of paying, of course. So estimates/meters not being read can sneak up & bite the wrong person on the bum

Bit rich as the previous owner was only paying 30 euros a month.
Happy days

Cleri do you pay monthly, bi-mothly or quarterly?
