Based on what the opinion poll bosses are saying (and they're looking at underlying trends) I'm going to predict a Conservative overall majority of about 30.
As a supporter of democracy, this should be a good thing as it will get rid of the corrupt incumbents. I'm just a bit concerned that the Tories got every economic decision wrong during the banking crisis; having said that, their role was to oppose the government, and they may well have done the same had they been in power. Besides which you can say that Gordon Brown got it all wrong prior to the banking crisis (eg allowing the housing bubble to get out of control, spending too much etc) I don't see any real difference in what will be done after the election. There will be big spending cuts, and people at the bottom of the pile will suffer because of the political and banking cock-ups. |

Another reason why I think the Tories will walk this election, is because the Labour campaign seems so lacklustre, with little to entice voters. If I were them (and accepting they can't promise much new because of lack of money) I'd be concentrating on the fear factor - asking questions like "Will Tory cuts put you out of work?" or "Will the Tory cuts destroy the housing market?" All negative stuff of course (and Labour will have to make major cuts if elected, too) , but the Tories are currently running negative posters about Gordon Brown. End of the day the Labour government comes across as tired and out of ideas. Whether or not you agree with them, the Tories do seem to have more energy and ideas for change, which will appeal to many.

That's my prediction. I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I still have a vote in England and I was going to vote Tory just to get this dreadful Labour Government out. However, my local Labour MP has been a very good one for our town, he has not fiddled his expenses and overall I would like to vote for him. It is also a marginal seat and it won't take much swing to the Tories for him to lose it. So...what to do? (I think probably I will vote for him personally and hope he wins but hope that overall his party lose!). |

I’m surprised so many people want the toffs back in, perhaps we got used to bowing and scraping to our superiors from Eton and missed them over the past 13 years. Let’s stand to attention again when the red-coated hunt rides past, let’s get on our knees when our betters extend their moist hands, let’s have street parties with David’s, George’s and Boris’s heads on the mugs; let’s remember the Empire and get rid of the horrible foreigners who have invaded our shores.
The pound will get strong again, and who wants freedom anyway? |

Come to think of it, I wish my parents had had the lineage and money to have sent me to Eton. I would be sitting in the house of lords now, smothered in ermine, passing judgment on the lowly serfs.

Perhaps Labour actually don't want to win!! Let's face it, they would be better off letting someone else clear up their mess (I almost used the word caca but don't know if that is allowed!). I know I wouldn't want more of the same (but that's why I'm not in politics). I really don't know who to vote for. Don't have UK TV at the moment so am blissfully unaware of certain parts, keeping abreast by BBC news on the Tinternet. What about the LibDems? This might sound really naive but I have never been able to understand why they aren't more popular. Can anyone explain please? (this question makes me sound like a dumb blonde, sorry but I genuinely need to know!)

As regards the Tory 'Toffs'and being educated at Eton, at least they have had the input and education to be leaders (and Tony Blair didn't go to the local comprehensive either).

It makes sense, these people are trained to lead us and what does Bill the Boilermaker know about anything after his training at the shitty local comprehensive? It’s bad enough women having the vote, but people from comprehensive schools?
