Drink Driving
#62
seriously - someone can be a bad & dangerous driver sober or tired
why compound it by being pi$$ed too

Thats why the tacho laws were bought in to stop people driving long hours like that, and needless to say thats why we have drink / drive laws. Neither should happen, and both are seriously against the law.

Well I dont know mate, but any HGV found drunk or even drinking and driving in my company was sacked on the spot. And as for breaking tachos, it all came back on us if they were caught breaking the rules. Its bad enough with a car, but with a tractor unit and a fully loaded trailer it would be like unleashing a missile on the public!

I agree but in them days that was the way it was.same as the pre breath tests days.people would think nothing of drinking six or seven pints and driving home from the pub in there car and dont forget you had two little side lamps in them days no one used there headlamps unless it was a country road. The standard of driving for most people now days is pathetic.and most week ends you can spot plenty of drunken drivers but you dont spot maney guardia
Are you talking about the days when you had a man run infront of your car with a flag?

No.Dont you remember the beath test comming out.before then it was put your hands out and touch your nose.stand on one leg and walk in a straight line on two legs.Im not saying drinking and driving should be accepted what I said was thats the way it was in them days, people are more aware of the conciquences of there actions now,and its not socialy acceptabe to drive drunk.it woulnt bother me if it was zero tolerance.but there are maney other things that are equaly as bad.like the idiots doing 100klms in a built up area like say a little street in the village with kids playing out.or people overtaking on blind bends or driving high on drugs.

Now why didn't someone e-mail me with the link to this thread??!!
If you lose your license for DUI in the UK you are NOT allowed to drive overseas.
IF you have a license abroad then obviously you can still drive.
Now, who is arguing what corner?

can there actually be a point?
I don't understand what other point is trying to be made....
Is the discussion now about a Portuguese lorry driver?
Or the accused trait of Brits to shop their fellow Brits? (Please, people in Britain are far less likely to report their fellow countrymen than say the SPANISH!)
Or are we discussing the......
I honestly don't know now....
