Both Britain and Spain have a great variety of breads of all types.

Contrast this with France where it's sometimes difficult to get anything other than a ficelle or baguette. Finding decent bread in France can be a real pain.

I have to agree it tastes quite normal for a sandwich.

I make my own but not in a bread maker, you can't beat it fresh from the oven, it's only flour and water pinch of salt and yeast well worth it.

Caveat (a) you have somewhere warm to prove it
Caveat (b) you have a predictable oven

Other than that,

Agreed. Our power is so low that the bread maker never gets hot enough!

To heat milk in the microwave can take 10-15 minutes on full power whereas in UK it was just 2-3.

We measured the power once and it got as low as 185 volts - we complained but with no joy. It seems it's our problem.

... yes, we are on mains supply but at the end of the line. We notice when people come home and start cooking as the lights go dim.

I use the oven to prove it, warm it with the grill, keep topping the warmth up, The oven is typically Spanish (crap) but I have worked out a good technique now, sometimes I use my electric glass oven a little more reliable in some ways ie/ setting temps.

Childish, junk food, no skill involved, I know all that, but it does not alter the taste, and a bit of what you fancy...................
Good comfort food, even better with pickled cabbage in the sandwich too
