What car hire firms in Faro allow their cars into Spain without hitting you with increased insurance please? Just been quoted additional €30 for a three day hire. Going over next Wednesday and really looking forward to seeing how Esuri is progressing.

Andy:)

Hi Andy,

We use a guy called Luis Romeira ( [email protected] ) for all our car rentals. He does a good deal over other companies, meets you at the airport and brings the car over to the terminal for you. His prices are all inclusive, just pay the petrol, and you don't have to pay him until you get there either.

Just mention me "John Bendall" when you contact him, I am sure he will do you a good deal.

John

Just realised what an utterly stupid post I made. If he wasn't logged on, he couldn't post could he?

Doh!

I agree with him and after three years reading and contributing to the Costa Esuri/Ayamonte threads I am also getting a bit hacked off by the implicit criticism and perceived superiority of those who think that the regular readers and contributors to this thread and its predecessors are somehow either stupid or elitist. I do read the other threads and occasionally find items of interest - if I feel the need to post there I will. However, I am an owner at CE and post on this thread to share information with others interested in CE. That is the raison d'etre for having a separate thread dedicated to CE/Ayamonte.

By all means let other people know about the other threads, but the snide and sometimes borderline offensive postings we have recently witnessed are unnecessary. If others want to read and contribute to other threads, that is fine by me. However, if I want to focus on one thread that is of most interest to me, then I would expect others to respect that.

When long-time contributors like Andy decide to leave the thread, that is a bad sign. Sam Parky initiated a really useful discussion forum (many thanks Sam) so lets not lose sight of the fact that it can be of great benefit in terms of shared information and a fantastic vehicle for forging relationships.

Sorry for the rant - its probably just me having a senior moment.

Mike.

MikeCol,

Totally agree.I have become totally disillusioned with this thread and all the rubbish being peddled.Would highly recommend that people look to use "the other Esuri forum".At least this thread is informative if somewhat under utilised.

(a) this thread isn't a forum
(b) It seems to me that this thread had returned to useful information and discussion until this was bought up again ;):)

Thanks to everyone that PM'd me on this subject it's been really helpful and am very grateful. It's a shame so many people are moaning about the thread as I have found it really helpful and have only had good responses.

Has anyone ever used the Simply Tee Times website for booking tee times at CE? It seems to offer the best prices - just want to be sure they are reputable?

Have you thought of buying the golf passport? it is advertised and on sale at C.E.[some of the other courses seem to be keeping it a secret!! you have to ask] and it gives you a round at 8 courses in Huelva for 30euros a round. The downside for me of pre-booked and pre-paid golf is that unless they close the course you do not get your money back if it rains and oh boy can it rain!! With the passport you only need to book when you know it will be a nice day!! We think it is a great deal and have had no problems exchanging the vouchers. The vouchers last 12 months.

I had a bit of a shock this morning. We were looking at the Ryanair flights from Stansted to Seville for later in the year and discovered they now fly from Stansted to Faro as well. Started October last year apparently.

Was anyone aware of it, I don't remember anyone posting about it. We could have got our March flights for 1p (plus taxes) each way to Faro instead of £26 each way to Seville, and had the convenience of less driving. It's not cost effective to change the flights as they charge £18pp per flight admin fee.

Bummer!

I was not aware of this but now I know I might just consider letting those rude and condesending Ryanair counter staff have another attempt to charge me for having luggage 5 kilo's overweight. Have you tried sitting in those narrow aircraft aisles wearing three jumpers and two pair of trousers? Its the four pair of socks inside the shoes that hurt!

cheers................Graham

To those traveling with GB Airways (now EasyJet),

We got our e-mail cancellation notice from BA for the flights which had been taken over by EasyJet. However we called BA and they swapped our flights on Easyjet back to BA ones at no extra cost, but slightly different times.

Not that we have had any problems with EasyJet, but they charge for things that BA don't like, meals, drinks, golf clubs and extra baggage!

Regards
John

Hi Graham. I seem to remember Ryanair, are they the ones with the outside loos? Mind you the air-hostess was very good on the way over, she had us all playing a game called "Spot the loose rivet " See ya!
