It is no hotter this year than any other year. They have to give out these "Heatwave" warnings but no one takes much notice.
In case you haven't noticed, summers are hot in Spain.

Is anyone surprised?
If you don't like the heat - get out of the kitchen - as they say.

Fred in case you haven't noticed this is an expat forum, so we are all practised at commenting on the weather. Even the Spanish were commenting on it. Going into the local hardware store everyone was saying 'mas calor'. I take my hat off....or maybe keep it on..to those Spanish labourers who work on in the sun, and sensibly keep their shirts on as well. One of my house guests urged one of the landscapers to remove his shirt to keep cool but he sensibly refused...or perhaps she just had an ulterior motive????
. So still no one with any suggestions where I can find these matting blinds then ?????????????

If we all lived in the Uk we would probably be discussing the best brand of woolley socks to buy to keep warm in the winter.
Sorry about the matting though - no idea where to get that.

I am pretty sure I saw the type of matting you are seeking in Carrefour out at Cartaya.....

Most of the big builders merchants keep all different sorts of netting, plastic through to bamboo and small branch type.

Most of the bodegas have the heavy matting covering the high windows. I am sure they are made using natural material but wonder if this is rush or some other grasss. There must be somewhere in Cádiz Province. Maybe if you went to visit a bodega and asked ! Good excuse for a tasting.
