The community charge is paid, assuming you live on an urbanisation or in a block of apartments. It's based on the number of apartments/houses and the level of services provided, therefore an urbanisation that has just a small pool will be a lot less than an apartment block that has a pool, lifts, tennis court etc

It's totally separate from the IBI,{council tax) rubbish collection, but in some urbanisations etc the rubbish collection is included in the community charge. If you do NOT live on an urbanisation or in an apartment block then you should not have a community charge to pay, as it's name suggests, it's a charge on members of that community,

No, it's the equivalent of council tax, although a lot less, and based on the value of the property, and the location as these are local charges.

Community charges and IBI combined, may not be far off the council tax in UK ......
Whereas some may pay a ridiculously low amount in the campo, others pay quite a hefty amount in urbanisations , for not all that many more amenities

I have an apartment in a block of 12. Our community charge is around 380 euros per year. There is not a pool but there is a lift that is serviced regularly. The public areas are extremely clean and well looked after. There are no outside gardens etc. to maintain.
I have no idea what the costs would be on a large urbanisation but you could search the Ayamonte section of the forum as I am sure there have been posts on the subject.

We lived on an urbanisation of around 50 houses, community charge was 380€ a year, there was a pool and a small garden area, also the street cleaning. We later lived in a block of around 60 apartments, community charge was some €2000 a year.
