Not sure where you lived, Bil, but it doesn't sound like anything I have experienced in UK. But we both have the perfect solution, you have found the perfect climate, and although I can't claim UK to be perfect, UK suits me perfectly.

I did once hear someone claim that the UK had 'the perfect climate', preumably he wanted to raise fungus, as the semipermanent damp would have been just right.

I used to live near Cambridge. Not a very wet place, to be honest, just damp, but it almost never dried out, as we never had consistent sunny weather.

Where I am now is loads better, not the perfect climate, since they don't restrict the rainfall to the nightime, and there actually are cloudy days, but I'm a brave little soldier, and I'm learning to cope with that.

Re: COLD

It´s another perfectly clear blue sky here again today, so I´ll be out now for hours to enjoy it, before we get all that horrendous weather that you insist we get all winter. TBH, I can´t remember when the weather last kept me indoors, I´m out just about every day.
If you're out every day in the UK now, you must be made of asbestos. It's horrendously cold out there. It's beginning to disrupt transport too, and Gatwick airport's been closed:

Looking like an horrendously cold night in Scotland

On Thursday night, temperatures of up to -25C (-13F) to -30C (-22F) in some parts of Scotland are forecast.

Can't agree with that. Even with the right clothes, being at the south pole in the middle of an ice storm would be miserable.

No, not made of asbestos, but not a friolero either! :) It's been 3-4 degrees here, I can stand that. I still haven't resorted to gloves, scarves, and hats yet, although my other half always leaves them out for me. It's been a lovely sunny day today, clear skies, but getting cold now. My DIL lives about 100 miles away and she set out to see us last Friday, but got on the M4 and nothing was moving. So after sitting there for an age, she turned around and went back, but it was fine here, we have had no disruptions. Unless it's hissing down, I'm out every day. My son should have been landing at Gatwick about now! :frown:

Re: COLD

"un frio que pela". This expression couldn't be more apt at the moment. People are on the Tube in scarves, hoods, woolly hats and gloves and they're still shivering. The wind once they leave the station and get out there is bite-ingly cold. No wonder the country's schools are closing and the transport systems are grinding to a halt. Even worse in other northern European countries - I saw the maximum in Berlin today was forcecast to be a sweltering MINUS 10  Makes our zero or -1 look quite balmy!

Actually - neither do I after standing outside my work place at 3pm this afternoon. It was bitterly bitterly cold and I hated it. This is the first year ever, that the cold weather has bothered me. I prefer sweating it out in 40 degrees c as I did earlier this year in Denia.

The sun is shining, the barometer shows ten degrees, but there’s a biting wind outside. All our normal heating is on, but it still feels cold inside the house. We’ve got some emergency heaters in the garage and it’s getting near emergency status.

It was down to -21 in the north of Scotland last night!! About -5 where I live which is virtually cut off from the rest of Edinburgh at the moment, brrrrrrrr it is freezing.

Mind you I'm keeping fit walking everywhere through snow drifts. I am hoping the cold of Malaga will feel positively balmy. :-)

Today was just perfect. After the rain last night I expected another dismal day, but they seem to have got their act together in the weather dept, as it has been blue skies all day long, and had I wanted, warm enough to sunbathe nude.

Try that in the UK and see what you get.

I am in the North of England and it's freezing cold but if you wrap up for the weather you are ok and in fact walking makes you warm. I have lived in Spain and to be perfectly honest .. I prefer being England in the winter. In fact I prefer being in England all year round :D It's good to be back

You must be getting soft bil, I recall one year up in the hills near me,sunbathing on top of compacted frozen snowdrifts a few feet deep in late April and early May wearing nothing but a pair of very dark sunglasses to guard against both the sun and snow blindness from the glare of the snow.
Also much the same, many years later in mid-Winter up near Teide, but more suitably attired due to the presence of prudish tourists.
