I do believe he flounced off. Not because of the views on this board (he attracted quite a bit of flak from time to time), but because he was disheartened by English-speakers responses to a newspaper article, and what he saw as British ignorance of Spain. I'm one of those who miss his contributions, but I suspect there are many who don't.

The forum would be a duller place without argument and in my view adds to it.
I do think some posters are mavericks who just want to be argumentative for the sake of it and I am always surprised(sadly) how personal and vitriolic some of the posters become. I try to avoid those posters.
The majority of posters will join in the debate and see it as no more than that. You also have to realise many of the replies are tongue in cheek (or at least I hope so!)between the posters.
