I would say benidorm,or its other name little blackpool, the hospitals are first class, but please dont get him an appartment, anything could happen to him and no one would find him,im sorry to be blunt but this is your father, you only have one.A good way around this is buy a caravan,it will cost about 20grand,you will still pay site rental every month of about 350 euros, the difference he will be surrounded by brits, have his own space without any problems at night. If you email i can recomend what sites are perfect for him. Please think about all options on this post, good luck, god bless.

Iirc dont you have to be careful about caravans on sites .... I seem to remember there was a thread on it here a while ago and you have to be very careful about your right to remain on the site as it needs planning permission etc etc

I'm not a blackpool type person, but I like Benidorm, especially the South beach area

I wasn't tarring any site with any brush! I was making a valid observation that should be taken into consideration when making such a choice. I was not talking about noisy neihbours, I was saying that a lot of the sites dont actually have proper planning permission for vans to be there, or they have to many vans on there.

Its important ..... no need to get mad with me

In fact, read post 7 on here that specifically refers to Benidorm

I'm not knocking you down
I've been on this forum and others for many years. I've picked up loads of information. This place is all about making informed decisions, and for that you have to know the facts, good and bad. You've highlighted a good idea, I've raised an issue. the poster can go away and evaluate what has been said and make a decision ... Nothing personal ... in fact .... nothing!

Is your father used to looking after himself totally or do you cook and clean for him? Is he in good health and ambient? What sort of place were you looking for? What are your concerns about him moving so far away from you?

Sam, yours will be a touring holiday, so you should just need to take your EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) for cover.

Rosemary,

No problems with looking after himself, he has been living on his own for some time now. I suppose he is my Dad and I just want to know he will be happy. Can I tell you how excited he is when I told him how many replies I have had. He is a lovely man never bothers anyone happy to do his own thing. I think having been here for 4 years and not being able to communicate is now taking it's toll. Having spent a very long time in the military he likes things just so and one of those things is knowing if something should happen he can get help. To be honest this is a minefield, can you believe my sister in law is Spanish they want my Father to live by them in Barcelona but his situation will be no different than here, what he misses most is being around people.

Thanks again

Forget benidorm then,an apartment on the flat will cost about 650-800 euros a month,up a hill will cost about 550-650 euros month. Please please take on board what my main concern is,in an apartment you can go days or longer without seeing anyone??????????????think about it.A small house is possible outside the centre, but hand on heart i would only recomend this if he drives.
