The changes to the Money Laundering Regs are fairly recent (last year or so coming into force), and are supposedly a post 9/11 response - with further regulation in the pipeline.

Accountants / IFAs have been in the firing line because apparently they haven't in the past "referred many criminals to the authorities". Accountants think it somewhat sours a previously good relationship enjoyed with their clients.

Mine (of several years) even made me sign a 20 page "contract" a few months ago which basically said "I must do everything he says otherwise it's all entirely my fault and not his". Apparently a requirement of his PI insurance that he does this!!
