Re: child abducted
Its all about risk assessment seasprite. When I bought up my daughter we assessed risks all the time. We decided for instance that it was too risky to leave her on her own at that age in a hotel room or whatever, and therefore never did. Some parents decide that the risk is acceptable. What you see here is the result of taking that risk .... it only happens now and again, but the risk is still there.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing for sure ...... but assessing risks for your kids is the smart route imho.

1. identify the hazards
2. decide who might be harmed and how
3. evaluate the risks and decide on precautions
three valuable steps to bear in mind regarding parenting.

Re: child abducted
according to the BBC website, the company provide a free creche service, but the parents didn't want to disturb the kids and they felt it wasn't fair to leave them with strangers.....
The babysitting service was an extra and someone actually sits with the kids till you come home. Thats what they say anyway.

See I wouldn't call it a risk. If anything was 'risky' you wouldn't do it in the first place if you had any common sense and I think that is what it boils down to. Your own level of common sense and responsibility.
I have my own opinions on the parents and personally I would never leave my children. I dont think that having a bite to eat takes priority over making sure my children are safe.
I think what some have said that 'they should rot in hell' well thats a bit extreme, also 'well they would have taken her, whatever, whether the parents were there or not' well those kind of comments are just speculation. How can you make that kind of assumption when no-one knows the real reason why she was taken.
I was one of many to condemn the parents and most of what I said was anger that it was allowed to happen and I still havent changed my opinion. Having said that, I do feel that the parents will have to live with this for the rest of their lives whatever the outcome and their lives will never be the same again and for this reason my thoughts are with them and their little girl.
I hope they find they find her but as each day passes its looking less likely.

Sorry to say you hit the nail on the head. it clearly is a risk, as demonstrated by whats happened, and has happened before, and will happen again.

Yes some will never learn by other peoples mistakes. My little boy learnt that fires were hot not because i told him it was hot he had to put his fingers in it he said it looked pretty and he wanted to play with it.

Well they didn't take her out for ice cream and a trip to the Circus did they? If they broke in according to some reports, and didn't take money or any other valuables, nor the younger children but her specifically then I would say that since she is incredibly pretty and photogenic it would be by a pedophile for his own gratification or more sinister for a gang where she will be used by pedophiles, photoed for child porn and later sold into prostitution for older men...if she lives that long. The only other option is that the man with her mother isn't her father, and she is a case custody, and he has lost and lives in another country and snatched her which is another common cause of abduction, so again the motivation would be there as whoever would be paid on delivery. Whichever she was the target and they wanted her in particular. If a pedophile lusted after her he would do what was necessary to get her, if a gang wanted her to make money out of her she would fetch a very high price so another motivation to get her whatever...and the same if the father isn't her natural father....which if he is then that takes that theory out of the frame then.
Trafficking of women and children for sex slavery (ie against their will) is a billion pound business and there is a demand for both and the younger they are, the more money they fetch. I know because I'm involved in trafficking of women and children with some governments who are trying to stop it. I'm hoping she hasn't gone down that route as what those women and children go through is a parents worst nightmare and then some.

"This is how it feels when you realize your child is missing: The pit of your stomach freezes fast while your legs go to jelly. There's one single, blue-bass thud of your heart. The shape of her name, sharp as metal filings, gets caught between your teeth even as you try to force it out in a shout. Fear breathes like a monster in your ear: Where did I see her last? would she have wandered away? who could have taken her? and then finally, your throat seals shut, as you swallow the fact that you've made a mistake you will never be able to fix." From the book The Tenth Circle by jodi Picoult.
Don't be judgemental, to say the parents deserve it is like wishing for something bad to happen (if it hasn't already)

Re: child abducted
I know, but I'm glad I grew up wheen you could take risks as a child without everyone worrying about being sued. I was often left alone to play etc whilst my mother was somewhere else. I grew up on a farm and many dangerous things there. But I survived.
Do parents watch their kids 24 hours a day? Horrible things happen even when the family are asleep in the house. The child could easily do all the things you mentioned when the parents are asleep, even morso if they had been drinking and had been in a heavy sleep. If they were as one report said only a few yards and checking on them every 30 minutes, then it would be no different to being in a garden downstairs having some drinks with friends, with the children upstairs in bed. Maybe all parents should have CCTV on their kids 24 hours a day, microchiped as well in case they disappear and all pedophiles put against the wall and shot in that way no accidents and horrible things would happen.

Re: child abducted
not evil............just with a total lack of common sense to think that it's OK to leave 3 very young kids alone, even for a minute
