i think you are confused about the process - all sales completions must go through a notary. I suggest you do a bit more research so you understand what you are involved in -

Sounds like you're buying a property with a few issues. Does your Spanish lawyer have power of attorney? Or are you going to have to sign the papers at the notary?

BTW Did you fix your currency exchange rate in April? The delay may be costing you money as the exchange rate has dropped from €1.18 in April to €1.07 now.

Ask him which piece of paper - also have you given him power of attorney? The process should definitely not take this long even allowing for July/August when not much happens.
There is an issue here. Is it new or resale?

We are in the process of purchasing a property in Spain. Any advice would be appreciated.
We've chosen to live near Alicante City. What can we expect of this area during January and February?
