Caterpillar will be American so stuck in the past a degree perhaps.

New build in UK is all metric these days but 'push fit' fittings are there for mixing the two systems. A few years back we combined the back boiler off one of our woodburners to the gas central heating system which I thought would cause problems but my fears were unfounded.

Oh, and you should start getting used to the metric system. The old imperial system is all but obsolete.
You can get your 568ml 'pint' for much the same price in the UK these days 'guest ale/lager' sort of thing. One area where Spain is weak is the choice of beers commonly offered, the bargain half litre 'pints' are often little better than fizzy urine...awful stuff.

Have you never tried some of the excellent craft beers - Estrella Galicia, Alhambra Reserva and there plenty more

Truth be told I drink very little beer/lager these days as I switched to wine a decade back. Craft breweries popping up all over the place in the UK, IPA is the 'new' drink discovered by younger folk LOL

I enjoy a pint of the black stuff from time to time or a cold Duval or Leffe. Cold cider on a hot day takes some beating.

Estrella Galaica is not a craft beer. Below is an image of the brewery which produces around 200millon litres are year. The company has a turn over of over 400 millon Euros a year.

AB Inbev are the real brewing experts. They produced 9billion litres under 500 labels in 2018. Some of their products probably look like craft beers. Some might be closer to fizzy urine.

I've seen those claims that foreign beer is hugely inferior to "real" beer. I don't think it applies to just beer though.

Pages of beer sold in my local Tesco but how much of it is really a good quality drink?

This thread led me to a glass of Guinness with an added shot of Port in it last nigh and very nice it was too.

Old imperial system is all but obsolete! Is it really?
I'd be very surprised in Spain if many ads for car alloy wheels, smartphone and laptop screens etc were not still stated in inches/ pulgadas.

Here in France, by the middle of the 19th century, metrication was fundalmentally completed, as a change over from arpents, toises and pieds(feet), which were the traditional French units. Even today in France, ads and store promotions for car/bicycle (wheels), tyres, inner tubes, tv screens, computer screens etc are invariably stated in inches (pouces).
The old imperial system may be forgotten by many, but certainly not obsolete.

Perhaps anything with the word "foreign" in front of it?

Yes, he seems to have gone away.

There isn’t much point in continuing this subject - I think we all are giving much the same advice. Also the thread is wandering off topic.

Thread is now closed.
