For example there are people who are tolerant to gays in all countries, there will be Iranians in Iran who are, but as the law of the country says it is a capital offence, then it will not be a gay tolerant country.
the same goes for people in the UK who are from intolerant countries, the have to adhere to the more tolerant laws in the UK.
The death penalty for any offence is handed out by the government not individuals, it is the law and policy that is intolerant.
The map shows intolerant countries where it is against the law.

It is relevant because all people in the UK of all races are subject to British law, which does not criminalise homosexuality.

You perhaps noticed the yellow countries with "unenforced penalty", (one of them having a billion* population). Just waiting for the slow mechanics of law change, to get rid of old British Law!!!

I am a bit confused, are you suggesting that the anti gay legislation in the old UK colonies is OK.
Are you suggesting that these or any other country is free to apply its own laws no matter how apalling they seem to us ??
If so will we see an end to posting of DM type stories which give extreme examples of punishment meted out to women and others for " breaking " the laws of the land they live in. !!!

However in countries like Uganda or Nigeria it is a very different matter.

Perhaps you´re right though EMR. We shouldn´t read stories of the appauling treatments meted out in case it´s sheds a bad light on those "meting it out".
A bit much for us to take as a nation that considers a fine, community service or a prison sentence punishment enough!

The ostrich stance. I like it.

Are you missing a brain cell or two.
What does LETS HOPE IT DOES NOT TAKE THESE COUNTRIES AS LONG TO CHANGE THE LAW Etc mean to you.
MM read Andys post where he suggests that it is up to the countries how and when they change their laws, it is therefore none of the business of the UK what happens there.
We cannot have it both ways, we should give assylum to anyone fleeing these draconian laws and do what we can on the global stage to change things.

From: That, there, that's not my post count... nothing to see here, move along.

What you do, trying to imply that other posters are saying something that they clearly aren't and then trying to whip up outrage with lines like ".....apologists..." And "....defend the indefensible" that's a classic tactic of trolls you know. Now I'm not suggesting that's what you are doing, not for one second, just that it's the same tactics trolls use to catch posters out and whip up a posse to go at them.... Now I'm not suggesting that's what you are doing, simply an observation.... That's all.

You are missing a few more brain cells since the last post.
I repeat again in language that even you should be able to understand.
It took the UK 300 years to change its laws, let hope that it does not take the old UK colonies another 300 to change theirs.
Now do you get it !!!
Somehow I doubt it,

The majority of gay people of non European origins in UK will be from India and Pakistan.
I was surprised to find the link below about Pakistan.
