(light-hearted though it may have been:)) implied that anybody other than white people (therefore presumably including the ethnic groups which RM mentions) would make life unbearable for gays and other persecuted groups.

Which is of course absurd.

In which countries in Africa, Asia or the Arab world can gays openly be gay and not be discriminated or persecuted?

I am curious to know.

I do know however that being gay is a capital offence in Iran, and since 1979 4000 have been executed.

I don't know. I also don't know why it's particularly relevant. There are loads of non-white gay people in the UK which shows that it's not only white people who are tolerant of it - which is what we were talking about.

There is no arguement that many countries including those that were once part of the British Empire and Commonwealth have not reached the levels of tolerance we now have in the UK ( Of course Gay bashing never happens, ha ha ha ).
legislation decriminalising homosexual behaviour is only 60 years old in what we regard as the most advanced society in the world. Yet some still expect every other country even those which did not exist 100 years ago to apply the standards that it took the UK 100,s of years to reach.

So if you are gay it is vital that you stay away from the amber, orange and brown areas.

I think it depends what you mean by "openly". In India gays are 'accepted' but don't behave so openly as for example in UK or USA.
Heterosexuality is not displayed so "openly" as in Europe or USA!!!

There have been hundreds marching, without problem, to get the old British Law re-repealed. (Delay occurs in all things legal and political in India.)

Men in general are far more tactile with each other and heterosexual male friends often walk hand in hand.
When I first went to India decades ago I thought such men were all gay, when told of my thoughts my new mother-in-law thought it hilarious. So such matters were obviously openly discussed as in UK.

Even if you are not gay, but use a bit of moisturiser and have your back, sack and crack waxed, it would be best to steer clear.

It's all this talk of body parts in the nether regions. Women talk about that stuff - not men.:(

It's all very well for you, I was starting to believe that it had been made compulsory.

It was rumoured that when a gay rights bill was first mooted, a member of the House of Lords advocated that it be paid. ;)
