The rules state you are allowed to visit the UK as a tourist to carry out job interviews then apply for a working visa from outside the UK if you have an offer.

This kind of treatment to please the Mail and Express peanut gallery is only going to backfire on Brits visiting or living in the EU.

I seen Spanish police escorting British citizens to their luggage and then putting them back on the flight they came from. Anyone traveling anywhere in this state of emergency should know there is a good chance of getting refused entry. I’ve had test and trace ring me everyday to make sure I’m isolating plus has a knock on the door and a home visit today.

Seems almost inevitable that tourist visas are going to have to be issued. How else is it going to work?

They get sent back on the next flight, they don't get put in a holding centre for days. And that was due to Covid restrictions, not for visiting to do something which is legal.

So getting refused entry was nothing to do with covid then.?

yes they are on top this time round. Mind you my flight was full of people with Pakistani and Indians passports. They must have been going through Spain to get back to the UK. A lot had multiple suitcases so I’m guessing they were escaping the crisis in India. I don’t know how they get into Spain to travel to the uk but the plane was full on the way back. Border control had plenty of officers on in Manchester airport both at the desks and the luggage , but I didn’t see anyone getting refused entry while I was there at least.

Probably they were British citizens.

One wonders why they'd be flashing Indian and Pakistani passports about in that case.

Unless our friend is mistaken, of course. Maybe he meant something other than "passports"

How could you know if they were being refused as you said they had Indian Passports and therefore would be checked in a different area from you. If they were standing with you and were let through they would be UK nationals no?

Pakistan has started to allow dual citizenship with certain countries some time ago so many Pakistanis in UK have British passport as well. India hasn't, but you can get Overseas Citizen of India card which gives nearly as much right as an Indian citizen within India.

at Manchester airport British passports and non British passport lanes are next to each other so you can easily see who is who. I Don’t understand how they managed to land in Spain and probably stay there for ten days so they didn’t have to hotel quarantine. Surely that was what was going on unless they were Indian British expats. I don’t know
