My pueblo (less than 1000 people) has raised the basura tax from 58€ to 90€ p.a. - just had the official notification from SUMA (the Alicante agency that collects these taxes)

Yes, life isn't always fair unfortunately, or linear.

i.e. a single person won't necessarily produce 50% - or less - of the rubbish a couple might any more than a family of four might produce 4x or six 6x etc. etc.

Yes my thought is it is a rip off but nothing we can do as far as I know...

Just had my quarterly bill for services the bill has increased by nearly a third the increase is on basura. Mind you if you had up the annual total and add on annual IBI it is at least £1200 cheaper than council tax I was paying in UK.
