My IBI bill HAS actually been reduced by a very small amount in each of the last 3 years, and is now 9% lower than it was in 2017 when I bought this property, because the previous local administration voted to do so. My Ayuntamiento has never charged a separate amount for basura (well not in the 18 years I've lived here, anyway). I have read in the press, however, that from 2025 they will be forced to do so, because of the new regulations explained in Spainrico's link. I have not seen any information whatsoever issued by the Ayuntamiento, though, about what is going to happen next year.

I've found a local news item from yesterday but basically it's just the PSOE looking to score political points about it, still don't have any information about when the new separate tax will be levied or how much it is likely to be.

I put my rubbish out by my gate and it's collected at around 8am daily at no charge.

Another advantage of living in a park home, no IBI or any of that malarkey either, tee he he :thumbsup:

But surely there is a community (?) fee which includes the charges for rubbish collection and all other overheads.

In Catalonia there's already a rubbish tax (tasa por gestión de residuos), I think most if not all municipalities in Catalonia charge it.

But this is Catalonia and la pela es la pela.

But the campsite must charge you in some form ? It isn't just empty land so of course they are paying then charging you
You might not pay IBI directly but it's just effectively part of your site chanrges

Unless you're living in an urbanización that organises its own rubbish collection and disposal (not even sure such a thing exists), this is a council service.

No, I pay my ground rent and not a penny more. If there are any fees they are included in that.

I neither know nor care about the composition of my ground rent however due to the fact that Park homes are not considered as 'property' and have neither cadastral entry nor cadastral value they therefore do not attract IBI as bricks and mortar do.
Furthermore they have no deeds and can be bought and sold without the involvement of the legal profession or any government agency. If I were selling somebody could come to my door, make me an acceptable offer, make a bank transfer on the spot, and that would be the end of it!

For many, like us in out latter years and with children to consider, that is an extremely valuable factor as on our deaths it completely removes them from any involvement whatsoever with Spanish bureaucracy when selling the home. In it's simplest form they could tell the site owner to sell the home on their behalf and just send them the proceeds, no waiting for Spain to grant probate etc. or engage a layer to act for them.

BTW, it's not a campsite, that implies plots for short term rent and transient visitors. My site is wholly residential with subletting prohibited so is more akin to a small private housing estate.

So you pay a rent that goes to the owner who pays tax for the land. What are you getting for free?

We have a separate charge for the rubbish collection. I think it's about €180 a year and we get six collections a week in winter and seven in summer.
The contract is given to a company who had to bid based on a five year plan, we are in the second year so I won't see any increases for at least three years.
I think it's good value to be honest as my son gets one bin emptied every two weeks in Shoreham by Sea.

It could double as far as I'm concerned as long as the service remains the same.

We pay a separate bin (basuras) tax, €24 a year, which is remarkable considering the house refuse is collected daily and recycling, depending on season, might be daily or slightly less frequent.

Just had an announcement about this from our local town hall - the highlights of which are:-

"The mandatory application of Law 7/2022 requires municipalities throughout Spain to transfer the real cost of the garbage collection and management service to property owners.

Before April 2025, the new state-wide fee established by Law 7/2022 on waste management must be implemented, which is mandatory in all municipalities.

This Law is a transposition of the European Directives on Waste Management. These European Directives develop the sustainability and climate change objectives of the 2030 Agenda.

Faced with this European imposition, the aim is to recycle more and have less waste."

So we can blame the EU - tome for Spexit? No let's not go there!
